This role will help to expand the structural team. The candidate will have the opportunity to lead bridge and culvert projects for MassDOT, RIDOT, and other state agencies. In addition, they will design structures for municipalities, oversee the preparation of contract plans and documents, and mentor junior staff. The projects BETA works on offer a wide variety of opportunities to broaden your skillset and gain valuable experience.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nContribute to the preparation of bridge and structural design documents, including design calculations, AutoCAD plans, specifications, and quantities\n\nProvide technical engineering expertise to project manager and/or client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions\n\nPlan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work\n\nAnalyze new and existing concrete gravity dams, arch dams, buttress dams, spillways, powerhouses, intake towers, penstocks, dam gates, and similar structures for stresses, stability, and performance under extreme loads\n\nDevelop and evaluate alternatives for new facilities and upgrades to existing projects\n\nComplete detailed design calculations and prepare contract documents and technical specifications\n\nPrepare formal written reports, give presentations, and participate in internal and client meetings\n\nCoordinate plans, schedules, and detailed phases (scopes of work, budgets, and milestones) of assigned project work\n\nEngage junior staff by piloting structural inspections with field crews\n\nCollaborate across internal disciplines and office locations\n\nPreferred location is BETA’s Lincoln, RI office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations.
