Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) — also known as physiatry — benefits many patients, including sufferers of multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, back pain, ligament problems, arthritis and Parkinson's disease. Our team includes psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and exercise therapists who collaborate with you to restore your quality of life and have you living independently again.\nResponsibilities Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer and department finance team, the individual is responsible for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s fiscal related matters including budgeting, financial analysis, contracts and grants, and post award management. Funding sources include general funds, federal/state contracts and grants, private gifts and grants, clinical trials, start-up funds, clinical revenue model funds, professional fees, and sales service income. The individual provides high level policy analysis and interpretation and performs independent problem solving that requires interaction with physicians, Principal Investigators, laboratory staff and various levels of accounting and sponsored projects personnel. The individual applies financial concepts to process, review, and approve financial transactions. Strategizes and recommends innovative fiscal solutions to the CAO and department finance team. Under general direction of department CAO, the individual is responsible for providing financial analysis and reporting on all account funds, budgeting, projections and fiscal close functions. Establishes and maintains complex financial control and reporting systems. Administers department payroll certifications.\nQualifications Required:\nWorking knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and good business practices, accounting principles and cost accounting standards.\nPrevious experience with processing financial journals and fund transfers.\nWorking knowledge of federal regulations governing research activity: OMB A-21, A110 and A- 133, including requirements for time and effort reporting.\nWorking knowledge of NIH policies governing the conduct of research.\nDemonstrated organization skills and ability to prioritize assignments when faced with heavy workload and competing deadlines.\nIntermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.\nProven ability to work independently and carry out assigned tasks reliably with minimal direction.\nDemonstrated skills to independently analyze situations, interpret data, define problems and/or objectives, identify relevant factors, and formulate logical conclusions and recommendations.\nDemonstrated skill in handling detailed transactions throughout tedious review and approval process.\nExperience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the campus community.
