This position will be an instructional aide with extended care responsibilities.Instructional Aide ResponsibilitiesSupplement and reinforce the work of the classroom teacherUnder the direction of the classroom teacher, grade student work, enter data into the gradebook, make copies, procure needed supplies and prepare instructional materialsUnder the direction of the classroom teacher, lead one-on-one or small group learning activitiesAssist the classroom teacher in monitoring student behavior and helping maintain discipline in the classroomUnder the direction of the classroom teacher, provide instructional push-in and pull-out intervention supportSupervise students during recess, lunch, emergency drills, activities, outside recreation, field trips, and pick-up and drop-offSubstitute for classroom teachers when neededPerform other duties as assignedExtended Care ResponsibilitiesSupervising, observing and interacting with students in accordance with school policiesAssisting students with homework and other school assignmentsProviding snacksOrganizing and leading spiritual, social, and age-appropriate indoor and outdoor play activitiesRedirecting student behaviors not consistent with school philosophy and implementing the program discipline system when necessaryMaintaining a safe and clean environmentCompleting and maintaining accurate and comprehensive student attendance records, payroll time sheets, incident reports and all other compliance paperworkDeveloping and maintaining a positive working relationship with other program staff and school faculty and personnelWorking cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basisDemonstrating professional, ethical, and responsible behavior at all timesEnjoy being with students, fostering their spiritual, academic, social, emotional and physical development through the duties outlined abovePerform other duties as assigned Requirements Religious QualificationsActive, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred)Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophyProfessional Qualifications18 years or olderProof of high school diploma or GEDProof of completion of 6 or more Early Childhood Education (ECE) Units OR proof of completion of at least 2 units of ECE and enrollment in current ECE class, working towards completion of 6 unitsSubmit a cover letter, resume and copy of transcriptsClear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for Community Care Licensing is a condition of employment)Experience teaching in a preschool classroomPositive professional references and recommendationsCPR and First Aid CertificationProof of immunizationsProof of completed Mandated Reporter training for Child Care ProvidersCleared TB test to work in Licensed Child Care Facility Physical RequirementsTo successfully meet the needs of the students in his/her care, the preschool aide must:Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom. While standing the aide will frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstratingSit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks. Walk on both even and uneven surfaces.Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending.Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class.Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. It is occasionally necessary to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms.While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be inside the classroom. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events.
