TEACHING ARTIST (After-School / In-School Performance Arts Educator)
Teatro ECAS is seeking dynamic, passionate Latiné Teaching Artists to lead engagingarts residencies in schools and after-school programs.You do not need to be a trained theatre artist to thrive in this role.We warmly welcome musicians, dancers, movement teachers, storytellers, spoken wordartists, facilitators, culture bearers, and creatives of all kinds who feel comfortable leadingyoung people in expressive, performance-based learning.For many students, you will be their first experience with the performing arts. Your role is to buildconfidence, creativity, collaboration, and joy through movement, voice, storytelling,improvisation, rhythm, and ensemble activities — across students’ native and learnedlanguages.You may work with elementary, middle, and high school students, depending on siteplacement.Schedule, Hours & Compensation● Part-time position● Programs run during the school year, with additional opportunities during summercamp● Teaching takes place during in-school daytime and after-school hours● Schedule varies by residency and school partnership● Competitive hourly pay, based on experienceWhat You’ll Do● Lead interactive, performance-based lessons for diverse age groups● Create an inclusive, encouraging learning environment● Adapt activities for bilingual learners and varied learning styles● Build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and fellow TeachingArtists● Collaborate on curriculum and share ideas with the team● Communicate weekly with the Education & Outreach Coordinator (Alexis)● Complete brief reports and timesheets on time● Ensure student safety during sessionsWho This Role Is ForYou’re a great fit if you:● Feel comfortable leading groups of young people in creative activities● Have experience teaching, facilitating, mentoring, or working with youth● Use performance, movement, music, storytelling, or creative expression in your work● Value inclusive, culturally responsive learning spaces● Are adaptable, collaborative, and passionate about youth developmentQualifications● Experience working with children or youth in educational, artistic, or community settings● Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred)● Strong communication and group facilitation skills● Familiarity with inclusive practices for diverse learnersA degree in theatre, arts, or education is welcomed but not required.Experience in teaching artistry, youth arts, dance/movement, music, spoken word, storytelling,facilitation, or community arts is highly valued.At Teatro ECAS, we believe young people deserve to learn from artists of many disciplines andlived experiences.
