Staff Technical Lead – Electrical Engineer Energy Storage & Grid-Scale Power SystemsWe are seeking a Staff-Level Technical Lead Electromechanical Engineer to drive the architecture, design, simulation, and validation of next-generation battery power systems delivering clean energy to the grid. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on owning electromechanical design from concept through mass production while mentoring a multidisciplinary engineering team.If you are passionate about solving complex system-level challenges, optimizing high-power designs, and building reliable products at scale, this role offers the opportunity to shape advanced energy infrastructure technology.What You’ll DoTechnical LeadershipProvide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship within a multidisciplinary engineering teamFoster engineering rigor, problem-solving excellence, and cross-functional collaborationLead root cause analyses (RCAs) and drive robust cross-functional interface designElectromechanical System OwnershipOwn the electromechanical design of battery products, including:High-voltage distribution systems (busbars, cables)Isolation, grounding, harnessing, connectorsOvermolded bussing solutionsPlastic and metal enclosures for PCBA and electrical assembliesSafety systems (contactors, fuses, interlocks)Address electronics packaging challenges including:Electrical isolation & creepage/clearance complianceEnvironmental sealingThermal regulationInterconnection strategiesShock and vibration mitigationAnalysis & OptimizationPerform mechanical and multi-physics analyses:Thermal and CFD modelingStructural simulationsCurrent density and resistive loss modelingDesign for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Test (DFT)Optimize busbar geometry and sizing to meet system performance, efficiency, mass, and cost targetsConduct system-level trade studies and architecture evaluationsProduction & DocumentationOwn designs through all iterations—from early concept to high-volume mass productionCreate detailed drawing packages, GD&T documentation, and manufacturing instructionsCollaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure DFM/DFA excellenceSupport the design and development of electromechanical systems for safe and simplified test stand operationsWhat You’ll BringExperience & EducationBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (8+ years experience), orMaster’s degree with 6+ years of experience developing medium- to high-volume productsTechnical ExpertiseStrong electrical and mechanical design backgroundProficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent)Expertise in:Cost modelingMulti-physics simulations (thermal, CFD, structural)System-level optimization and architecture trade-offsDeep knowledge of:GD&T and first-principles hand calculationsPower distribution and electrical circuitsProtection devices and safety systemsCreepage and clearance analysis (IEC, UL standards)Ability to model resistive losses and perform current density analysis for high-power busbarsManufacturing & ReliabilityDirect experience with high-volume manufacturing and prototyping techniquesExperience designing tight-tolerance components for harsh environmentsStrong DFM/DFA expertisePreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with NEC and battery/power conversion standards (UL9540, UL1741)Experience in energy storage or power conversion systemsDemonstrated leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional communication skillsWhy This Role Is ExcitingLead the development of advanced grid-scale battery power systemsWork on cutting-edge clean energy technologyDrive designs from concept to production in a fast-paced, mission-driven environmentCollaborate with passionate, multidisciplinary teams solving real-world energy challenges
