DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Now hiring a compassionate caregiver looking for a fun and fulfilling job! Our home hardly ever has any staff openings. All residents are adults with developmental delays, mental health diagnoses and have a forensic background. All residents can perform most ADLs and mainly require prompting and supervision while teaching everyday life skills. Pay dependent upon experience but also willing to train the right person with no experience. Need to pass FBI and DOJ background check and complete physical with TB test prior to hire (unless already completed within the last 12 months). Must have a Driver's License (preferably with 3 years driving experience). We offer flexible scheduling and have part time hours available. To apply for employment, reply with cover letter and resume. Responsibilities: Be a role model, helping clients become as independent as possible. Be familiar with and follow each clients training and behavior plans, data collection procedures, schedules, diet plans, medical plans, etc. “Direct care” of clients as needed, including grooming, dressing, feeding, shopping, laundry, etc., allowing clients to do as much as possible for themselves in these areas. Provide training to clients, using guidelines in clients’ specific plan. Complete necessary documentation as events occur, including visitor log, training data, behavior data, activity log, etc. Taking clients to medical appointments and keeping appropriate documentation of appointments, treatments, recommended changes, etc. Communicating this to supervisor. Arranging for emergency care if needed. Notify supervisor immediately of any medical conditions or injuries, major or minor, and take emergency measures in case of serious injury, including the administration of first aid and CPR. Provide transportation for clients as required. Cooking meals for residents with their participation whenever possible. Keeping the facility in good condition, including cleaning with encouraged involvement of clients. Familiarity with clients’ rights, company’s policies and procedures, personnel policies and procedures, and licensing regulations that affect your performance. Report for work according to your assigned schedule. Attend monthly in-service trainings. Complete ongoing trainings as required, including but not limited to: DSP year 1 and DSP 2, client rights, MABPRO and medication training. Complete fire and disaster drills as assigned.
