This position determines methods, procedures, equipment and material, best suited for the operation to be performed.\nPerform cleaning and custodial duties in an assigned area including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing/polishing floors. Operate buffing, floor scrubbing and polishing machines.\nWash walls, ceilings, floor level windows, window moldings and doors, Venetian blinds. Vacuum, shampoo and spot clean carpets and upholstery. Dust, clean and polish furniture, woodwork, chalkboards, ventilators, and equipment. Clean, disinfect and maintain restrooms, showers and washrooms including replenishing supplies. Empty and clean waste receptacles and dispose of trash.\nComply with Lab implementation of Department of Energy (DOE) health and safety policies and other applicable Federal, State, and local fire, health, safety, emergency-preparedness, pollution-prevention, and environmental-protection policies.\nPerform all work safely and be particularly aware of potentially hazardous operations or conditions.\nDemonstrated related - qualifications acquired either in a formal apprenticeship, or directly-related vocational training or equivalent work experience.\nAbility to communicate (read, write, speak) in English. Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary for the role and scope of work performed. Ability to communicate clearly in writing, orally, over telephone and by two way radio with Supervisor, work leads, peers, and customers regarding work assignments/safety issues.\nAbility to follow oral and written policies, procedures, and instructions. Ability to read and comply with posted safety warnings.\nDemonstrated ability to use computers and applicable software effectively for record keeping and communication.\nAbility to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, work at heights; work in confined spaces, around rotating equipment, under florescent lights; able to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, have manual dexterity in both hands; lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted to chest height and carry object up to 100 feet up/down stairs.
