Position Type:High School Teaching/Vocational EducationDate Posted:5/12/2026Location:Melvindale High SchoolDistrict:Melvindale Northern Allen Park Public Schools Additional Information: Show/HidePosition: CTE Cosmetology TeacherLocation: Melvindale High SchoolRoles and Responsibilities:Deliver instruction in:Hair cutting, coloring, and stylingChemical services, skincare, and nail careSanitation, safety, and infection controlPrepare students for the Michigan State Board of Cosmetology examSupervise students in a salon/lab setting and maintain a safe, compliant environmentTrack student competencies and required training hoursBuild partnerships with local salons and coordinate work-based learning opportunitiesSupport student career readiness and job placementEnsure compliance with all LARA and CTE (OCTE) requirementsMeet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designatedPlan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students based on the District's educational philosophy, goals, objectives and individual student plan.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation.Establish and maintain standards of appropriate student behavior.Employ a variety of instructional strategies and media which meet the needs and capabilities of the students.Evaluate student performance on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.Maintain and improve competence through participation in professional trainingAttend all staff meetings and serve on committees as requested.Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent or designee.Qualifications and Education Requirements:Valid Michigan Cosmetologist LicenseValid Michigan Cosmetology Instructor LicenseMinimum 3 years of recent cosmetology experienceOne of the following:Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, CIP Code 12.0400 CTE endorsement, OREligibility for Annual Career Authorization (ACA) CIP Code 12.0400* Minimum 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience* Willingness to complete required CTE training toward Michigan teaching certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park Public School District for this positionWorking Schedule and Rate of Pay:40 week per year position (teacher work calendar)Salary according to master contractComprehensive benefits package including:District-paid health insurance (hard cap)Term life insuranceLong-term disability coverageORS retirement planPaid time off (CTO and vacation days)
