PCBA Rework Technician

Job Description PCBA Rework Technician Job SummaryThe PCBA Rework Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and modifying printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to meet quality and functional standards. This role requires strong soldering skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with fine-pitch and sensitive electronic components. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform rework and repair on PCBAs, including removal and replacement of surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole componentsConduct micro-soldering on fine-pitch components such as BGAs, QFNs, and other advanced packagesUse rework stations, hot air tools, soldering irons, and microscopes to complete repairsTroubleshoot defective assemblies using schematics, drawings, and test dataInspect completed work to ensure compliance with IPC standards and company quality requirementsDocument rework performed, including root cause and corrective actionsSupport engineering teams with prototype modifications and engineering change orders (ECOs)Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following ESD and safety protocolsAssist in continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects and improve repair processesRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)2+ years of experience in PCBA rework or electronics repairProficiency in hand soldering and rework techniques for SMT and through-hole componentsAbility to read schematics, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs)Experience working under magnification (microscope)Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721)Strong manual dexterity and attention to detailPreferred QualificationsIPC certification (e.g., IPC-7711/7721 Rework/Repair Certification)Experience with BGA rework and X-ray inspectionKnowledge of ESD handling proceduresPrior experience in a manufacturing or electronics production environmentKey SkillsPrecision soldering and reworkProblem-solving and troubleshootingQuality inspection and defect identificationTime management and efficiencyCommunication and documentationWork EnvironmentManufacturing or electronics production settingFrequent use of microscopes and precision toolsMay require sitting for extended periods and performing repetitive tasksCompany DescriptionOne of the Largest Manufacturing companies in North America.Company DescriptionOne of the Largest Manufacturing companies in North America.
