In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to data development and operational stability of the Big Data ecosystems.Essential FunctionsProvides technical input to feature development plans and concept documentsUnderstands production and operations issues as they relate to engineeringConfigures and administers data servers and Hadoop componentsDevelops scalable, extensible solution architectures leveraging contemporary big-data technologies in an evolving operational frameworkAnalyzes existing data structures and recommends improvementsPartners with team lead to identify technical requirements and alternatives to accomplish projects, leads major incident troubleshooting involving multiple disciplines and develops reliable solutions to complex problems which require ingenuity and creativityParticipates in design, code, test, maintenance, enhance and decommission phases throughout software life cycle to contribute technical expertise and to identify issuesParticipates in and helps guide research POCs, including design, coding, and performance and efficacy measurementProvides significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities, facilitates team discussions and plans, and offers innovative suggestions within area of disciplineDemonstrates broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including various departments and is recognized as an expert in assigned discipline and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiativesResearches new technologies and proposes cost effective solutions and contributes input to broader technology solutions outside of disciplineProvides 24x7 on call supportBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experienceExperience with one or more of the following: Star Schema Modeling, Spark, or HadoopExperience developing SSIS packages or similar technologies to support data integration processesExperience tuning and optimizing ETL jobs to perform at scaleExperience writing complex queries combining data from disparate systemsExperience with Java, Hadoop and various componentsExperience developing data visualizationsDemonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectivelyDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation/organizationDesired QualificationsBuilding data models and transformations inside PowerBIExperience with real-time streaming technologies such as KafkaExperience developing data visualizations using PowerBIExperience designing, building, and maintaining star schema modelsThe deadline to apply to this role is Friday, September 4, 2026.Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
