With deep engineering expertise in the cytometry field and an expansive intellectual property portfolio, Cytonome aims to develop products that simplify existing workflows and enable leading-edge advances and research.\nJob Responsibilities:\nDesign, prototype, and fabricate custom components, fixtures, and assemblies to support R&D, process development, and laboratory experimentation.\nWork directly with scientists, engineers, and research staff to translate experimental concepts into manufacturable designs.\nCreate and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings with appropriate tolerances and material specifications.\nProgram, set up, and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision parts in metals and plastics.\nPerform fitting, assembly, and testing of mechanical systems, ensuring functionality and reliability.\nIterate quickly on designs based on testing feedback or experimental outcomes.\nMaintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot shop equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation.\nManage material inventory, tooling, and consumables for the R&D machine shop.\nEnsure documentation and traceability of prototypes, part revisions, and design changes.\nUphold safety and cleanliness standards appropriate for work supporting biotech research environments.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability and support the transition of successful designs toward scaled production.\nContinuously evaluate and adopt new fabrication methods (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, modular fixturing) to expand internal prototyping capabilities.\nProvide technical consultation on mechanical design, material selection, and fabrication feasibility during project planning phases.\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO PERFORM POSITION EFFECTIVELY:\nEducational Background:\nHigh school diploma or GED certificate, completion of a technical or associate degree program is a plus\nRequired experience:\n5+ Years Programming and setting up 5-axis CNC mills and manual mills. Haas experience is a plus\nDeveloping machining strategy from scratch\nOrdering all necessary materials and tooling\nDesigning and building fixtures, jigs, and other work holding\nMultitasking and balancing a busy workload\nCompleting tightly toleranced work\nOther Requirements:\nProficiency in Mastercam and Solidworks\nFamiliarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints and willingness to work closely with Engineering team\nUnderstanding of mechanical assembly, fasteners, etc.\nExcellent troubleshooting skills\nAbility to work independently and closely follow directions is essential\nCapable of standing for extended periods of time\nUnderstanding of materials and design considerations for biocompatibility, sterilization, and chemical resistance.\nAbility to lift a maximum of 40 pounds for short periods of time\nCytonome excels in creating a workplace where imaginative thinkers can participate in a stimulating entrepreneurial environment and contribute to a highly motivated, success-driven team.
