Robots should manufacture goods, clean roadways, tidy our rooms, build more homes, cook healthy food, and lower the cost of living. We aren’t quite there yet, robots are too expensive, too difficult to program, fragile, and unfriendly. Bracket Bot is changing that.\n\nWe believe that robots are currently in the ENIAC era and we are bringing them to the Macbook era. We believe in high performance engineering teams where everyone you work with is what you imagined Bell Labs employees to be like. Intelligent, scrappy, dedicated, kind.\n\nAt Bracket Bot, we have a few objectives. We are working to make the ideal role model of a company, one where everyone is at the top of their field, inventing new ways to solve the problems we face across mechanical, electrical, software, and machine learning. What does a company that creates entirely new ways that teams work together look like? A company that invents new materials for lighter weight actuators and structures? A company that creates and publishes new inverse kinematics algorithms for robots? A company that is thinking radically differently, and executing on another level.\n\nIn every field there are small teams who did something their peers had decided was impossible. The 10-second barrier in sprinting, or the eight engineers who left Motorola and made the 6502 for 10x lower cost than other chips at the time making the personal computer possible. SpaceX has landed the same rocket 36 times. Bracket Bot believes actuated, alive machines can be glorious, affordable, easy to use, and ubiquitous, and we are pulling that future forward.\n\nOur products are a mirror of what we think about the world, on engineering & research, and what we think should be introduced into the world. In history, there are simply products that should exist, and only once created, are obvious in hindsight. Bracket Bot’s mission is to introduce as many of these products into the world as possible. We believe there are hundreds of these in the space of robotics. Across physical robot hardware, software and operating system; the infrastructure and distributed systems they connect to; the AI inference they run, both local and cloud, and so much more.\n\nOur first product, Bracket Bot 1, exemplifies what a small team of highly talented people can do. At Bracket Bot, we genuinely believe 100x engineers exist, and a room full of them can create things that dozens of other companies have failed to do. We’ve brought to market a robot that is 10x lower cost than any other robot in its category, while out performing them on manipulation, autonomous navigation, speech interaction, and developer UX.\n\nWe’re backed by Fifty Years (Scott Phoenix), BoxGroup, SV Angel, Betaworks, Pace Capital, angels including Nat Friedman, Logan Kilpatrick (Google AI), Guillermo Rauch (Vercel) and others from Tesla AI, Physical Intelligence, and Markforged.\n\nAbout the role\n\nRobots become useful when their software makes complex capabilities easy to build on.\n\nWe’re hiring a Software Engineer to build the software that connects our robot hardware, developer tools, and services. You’ll work across robot software, SDKs, APIs, and the infrastructure that supports real applications.\n\nThis is a high-ownership role for someone who enjoys working across the stack. You’ll collaborate with robotics, electrical, and machine learning engineers to turn robot capabilities into a reliable developer experience.\n\nWhat you’ll do\n\nBuild and improve robot software, SDKs, APIs, and developer tools.\n\nConnect on-robot capabilities with the services and infrastructure they depend on.\n\nCreate clear interfaces for applications that use sensing, motion, audio, and machine learning.\n\nDebug performance, reliability, and integration problems across the software stack.\n\nWrite practical tests and documentation that help developers build and ship applications.\n\nWork closely with hardware, robotics, and machine learning engineers on complete product features.\n\nWhat we’re looking for\n\nStrong software engineering fundamentals.\n\nEvidence of useful software you’ve built and shipped.\n\nAbility to reason about APIs, system interfaces, performance, and reliability.\n\nCare for developer experience and simple, well-designed tools.\n\nWillingness to learn unfamiliar parts of the stack and own a problem through to a working result.\n\nNice to have\n\nExperience with robotics, embedded Linux, or software that interacts with physical hardware.\n\nExperience building SDKs, developer tools, distributed systems, or cloud services.\n\nExperience integrating ML inference, real-time audio, or streaming systems.\n\nImportant notes\n\nHigh-ownership role with influence on software architecture and developer experience.\n\nHands-on work with real robots is part of building and debugging the product.\n\nWe value builders who ship and can explain the tradeoffs behind their work.\n\nBracket Bot is an equal opportunity employer. We’re building a diverse team and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.","company":"Bracket Bot","rawCompany":"bracket bot","city":"Millbrae","state":"CA","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-10-15T08:03:59.337Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1252.00","title":"Software Developers","slug":"software-developers"},{"code":"17-2199.08","title":"Robotics Engineers","slug":"robotics-engineers"},{"code":"15-1299.08","title":"Computer Systems Engineers/Architects","slug":"computer-systems-engineers-architects"}],"industries":[{"code":"541511","title":"Custom Computer Programming Services","slug":"custom-computer-programming-services"},{"code":"513210","title":"Software Publishers","slug":"software-publishers"},{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Software Engineer","description":"Software Engineer\nSan Francisco · Onsite · Full-time\n\nAbout Bracket Bot\n\nWe believe planet earth can thrive and be alive.
