Design Engineer
Job Title: Design EngineerLocation: Charlotte, NCJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Engineer-to-Order (ETO) Design Engineer with strong mechanical design expertise to support custom product development and engineered solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Creo/ProE, Windchill PDM, and 3D parametric modeling, along with a solid understanding of drafting standards, sheet metal design, and piping systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs while managing engineering changes and documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed mechanical designs for engineered-to-order products using Creo/ProE.Create and modify 3D parametric models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) in Windchill PDM.Follow drafting standards and engineering documentation procedures.Support sheet metal design and manufacturing requirements.Develop piping layouts and associated mechanical components.Participate in change management activities including ECR, ECN, and ECO processes.Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility.Review and update engineering drawings, assemblies, and subassemblies.Support design improvements and cost optimization initiatives.Ensure designs comply with company standards and customer requirements.Required Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in ETO environment.Strong experience with Creo / ProE.Experience with Windchill PDM system.Hands-on experience in 3D parametric modeling and assembly design.Experience with drafting standards and engineering documentation.Experience creating and managing BOMs (Windchill BOM preferred).Knowledge of change management processes (ECR / ECN / ECO).Experience with sheet metal design and manufacturing.Experience with piping design and layouts.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of electrical components and electromechanical assemblies.Understanding of subassemblies and component functionality.Familiarity with electromechanical control systems.Experience working in engineered-to-order or custom product environment.Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
