Automation Engineer

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Automation Engineer to partner closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to identify and implement automation opportunities. This role is responsible for supporting new and existing projects through the design, programming, simulation, and testing of automated processes and machinery. The Automation Engineer will play a key role in driving efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement within the facility while reporting directly to the Plant Manager.Pay & Schedule:Pay (salaried) based on experience12-hour day or night shift: 7:00 – 7:15 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:SafetyFollows plant safety procedures and guidelines.Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately.TasksResponsible for developing manufacturing solutions using automated and semi-automated equipment (PLC’s, HMI’s, Robotics, Vision Systems, etc.)Serve as the technical expert on machine specifications, controls, integration, installation, programming, servicing and modification.Work with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to identify new automation opportunitiesPursue opportunities to reduce costs, improve product quality, and consistencyProject managementCreate accurate, complete, and clear documentation of new machinery and processesEstablish automated equipment efficiencies, PM programs, cleaning programs and documentation of these activities.QUALIFICATIONS:BS in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing) required5+ years of experience with manufacturing automation systemsStrong project management skillsStrong technical writing skillsExperience installing and validating automation systemsExperience with robots and vision system integrationExperience with new process development and machine designExperience working with equipment suppliers (price, delivery, and service)WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and products with sharp edges.
