This role focuses on designing hardware and software for both new and existing products, with an emphasis on embedded systems used in radar and lidar technologies.\nDuties and Responsibilities Support the research and development of technologies to sustain or improve Kustom Signals’ competitiveness in radar and lidar-related products.\nAssist in analyzing and responding to Marketing’s product requirements by establishing hardware and software design criteria.\nDesign, develop, analyze, and document product designs that meet functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.\nContribute to project teams throughout the product development process, supporting schedules, task completion, and progress tracking.\nCollaborate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales to resolve issues related to product design, specifications, and materials.\nStay current with emerging electronic engineering technologies and advancements.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nEquipment to be Used Computers, telephones, development systems, engineering software, and test equipment.\nPhysical Demands Sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, and reach.\nDrive a car or SUV during day or night hours.\nRequire close vision for specific tasks.\nTravel within the United States by car or airplane.\nLift up to ten (10) pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to sixty (60) pounds, with assistance when appropriate.\nMental Demands Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.\nPresent information effectively to customers and employees.\nWorking Conditions general electrical engineering tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, schematic design tools, and PCB layout software.\nKnowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment used in product design and production.\nUnderstanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.\nKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used to produce technical plans, schematics, drawings, and models.\nAbility to design and develop hardware and/or firmware for embedded systems.\nAbility to source and evaluate components to meet electrical engineering design requirements.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, including critical thinking and analytical reasoning.\nUnderstanding of embedded systems architecture, bus structures, and communication protocols including serial, USB, and wireless networking.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.\nSkills – Desirable Project management experience, including task planning, scheduling, and requirements documentation.\nKnowledge of signal processing principles and DSP programming.\nExperience with radar, laser, microwave, digital, or RF design, including simulation, schematics, PCB layout, and evaluation.\nKnowledge of lidar and opto‑electronic design principles.\nExperience developing Windows or Android applications for product support.\nExposure to project coordination and development
