The successful candidate brings deep, hands-on data center electrical experience gained as a design engineer, EPC/contractor engineer, or owner/tenant/end-user engineer, and applies that experience to set standards, mentor other engineers, and drive design consistency across MARA's portfolio.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESServes as the electrical design authority for multiple concurrent data center development projects, responsible for the electrical Basis of Design (BOD) and design standards and ensuring consistency across the portfolio.Leads and reviews electrical designs, calculations, and studies including load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and grounding studies—from concept through as-built.Prepares conceptual design and major equipment sizing for respective datacenter projects.Directs the design of medium and high-voltage power distribution, UPS, standby generation, switchgear, PDUs/RPPs, busway, and critical power systems with appropriate redundancy topologies (e.g., N+1, 2N).Provides technical electrical direction across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations phases, resolving complex design and field issues as they arise.Manages and coordinates with external engineering consultants, EPC contractors, and vendors, reviewing their deliverables for technical accuracy, code compliance, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.Leads technical due diligence for site selection and feasibility, evaluating power availability, utility interconnection, and electrical infrastructure constraints.Performs efficiency reviews and value-engineering of existing, vendor, or consultant designs to optimize capital cost, energy efficiency (PUE), reliability, and schedule.Supports procurement of long-lead electrical equipment and materials—developing technical specifications and bid packages, evaluating vendors, and making sourcing recommendations.Supports installation, testing, and commissioning (Lx levels) of electrical and associated systems, and leads troubleshooting throughout the project lifecycle.Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including contractors, architects, mechanical engineers, commissioning engineers, and construction managers to integrate electrical systems into the overall facility design.Provides technical guidance and mentorship to electrical engineers, project managers, and project staff, and represents the electrical discipline in design reviews and project meetings.Stays current on the latest data center power, cooling, and electrical infrastructure technologies, as well as mining and AI/HPC compute optimizations.Effectively communicates complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, executives, and clients through clear written and verbal deliverables.Travels 20–30% of the time, primarily within the American continent.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent in years of experience; Master's degree a plus.Minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering experience, with a strong, explicit focus on AI/HPC data centers or mission-critical facilities.
