{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"3f8cbceb4cade9dcf4ffb77f","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/3f8cbceb4cade9dcf4ffb77f","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/3f8cbceb4cade9dcf4ffb77f","title":"Model Maker 1","description":"Valiant is looking for a Model Maker I to join our team!\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nServe as a Model Maker/Repairman/Specialist in the TAPC section with the responsibility for the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of training aids, VISMOD's and devices required by the Training Support Center.\nFrom detailed instructions and simple diagrams/sketches and blueprints, fabricate requested devices and training aids to include scaled down and full-scale models.\nPaint with brush or spray units, all major items and devices produced, letters and color codes signs, field markers, and components of intricate models.\nMaintain and repairs all locally produced and developed training aids, to include mechanical and electrical units.\nEnsure adherence to safety standards, policies and practices as well as company standards and quality control procedures.\nProvide customer assistance and advice in a proficient and professional manner.\nPerform cross leveling tasks as necessary to enhance mission accomplishment and personal growth.\nPerform housekeeping duties as required to maintain the work area in good and clean working conditions.\nMaintain inventories of shop materials, hardware, and tools.\nAssist higher grade/skilled craftsmen.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nRequirements:\nSECURITY REQUIREMENT:\nMust be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) to utilize government systems.\nEDUCATION REQUIREMENT:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n1+ years of experience in related fabricating/specialist/repairman work. Must be able to apply math and reading skills. Must be familiar with fabricating practices, design jigs and fixtures, work with metals, wood and fiberglass.\n2+ years of basic experience in wood, metal, plastic and fiberglass work, and torch cutting.\nBasic technical knowledge of set-up and operation of shop machines, tools and equipment to include basic software application for CNC router and laser cutter.\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints/drawings and work from verbal instruction and/or sketches. Must be familiar with lathe, mill, MIG & TIG welding operations. Valid CA license, forklift 12,000 lbs., and a Military license.\nSkillfully work with the diverse types of hand tools listed under equipment/tools used on the last page. From detailed instructions and simple diagrams/sketches, fabricates device type and 3-dimensional training aids to include scaled down and full-scale models.\nProduce instructional aids from metals and other media such as wood, plastics and fiberglass. Inspect and repair VISMOD kits at battalion motor pools.\nEffectively assimilates verbal guidance and instructions into positive action.\nValid CA Driver's License.\nAble to read and write in English language.\nAvailable for overtime as needed.\n\nEQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:\n\nWelders CNC router, CNC laser cutter, torch, band saws, sheers, brakes, rollers, punch press, drill press, chopper saw, table saw, radial arm saw, scroll saw, jig saw, skill saw, belt sanders, circular sanders, plainer, jointer, electric hand drill, lathe (engine), milling machine, files, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, chisels, hammers, dividers, vernier calipers, depth gauge, height gauge, micrometers, 12-K forklift, flatbed trucks, 6-12 ft ladders.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\n\nAble to safely wear required personal protective equipment and job‑related safety gear as needed to perform essential duties.\n\nShop environment, frequently outdoors.
