Safety, Health and Environmental Manager
Job Summary: The Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manger is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities for Prescott’s Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems to ensure conformance to ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards, TCLAD Standards and compliance to governmental (local, state, federal) regulations. Candidate will periodically apprise the site’s business management team on the status of the site’s SHE programs and recommend opportunities for improvement. This position is responsible for the site’s Regulatory Approval process and will interact on a daily basis with various facility employees as it pertains to SHE issues. In addition, the incumbent will develop procedures and programs, maintain, and update current systems and perform appropriate training as required to support the site’s continuous improvement initiatives.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains current knowledge of all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, as required.Performs internal audits (i.e. JSAs, ISO, Procedure Audits, Ergonomic Assessments, etc.) to ensure compliance to SHE standards and regulations.Provides a monthly report to SH&E and Site Manager regarding the site’s environmental, health, and safety compliance and recommends necessary improvements.Member of the site’s Safety Committees.Member of the site’s SH&E Resource Committee.Assist with 3rd party audits, customer SHE audits, etc.Train production and PD personnel as required in SHE policies, systems and practices.Responsible for Prescott’s Compliance Calendars ensuring that programs, training and various activities stated on the calendars are completed in a timely fashion within the current calendar year.Performs daily / routine site inspections; audits and assessments.Interfaces with internal and external suppliers regarding safety related items and assists in the purchasing of related items for operations group, where applicable.Recommends PPE requirements for the Prescott manufacturing site.Responsible for generating, submitting and/or maintaining, at a minimum, the following reports/databases for the Prescott manufacturing site:TCLAD Monthly Report (i.e. headcount, recordables, etc.)Incident Reporting, SHE/Q database, SHEcom databaseStormwater inspectionsWastewater inspectionsWaste inspectionsSPCC (Spill Prevention Control & Counter Measure)RCRA (hazardous waste manifest) quarterly reportsWaste ManifestsSARA Annual reports (Tier II, TRI, etc.)TCLAD Reporting – Quarterly (Injury & Environmental)TCLAD Reporting – Quarterly (Sustainability)OSHA 300 LogMonitors the company’s compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.Monitors and improves tracking control systems.Helps maintain the SHE/Q database as it pertains to Incident Investigations, Facility Inspections, Business Suggestions,3rd Party inspection findings, etc.Identify and implement BMPs (Best Management Practices).Facilitates the safety elements of the Lean Enterprise System, 5S program, etc.Other duties as assigned.Authority:1: To stop any unsafe practice.2: To assist with maintaining the sites' QMS, EMS and OHSAS certifications.3: To address internal issues and take appropriate corrective actions per established policies.Minimum Qualifications: Good written and verbal communication skills.Highly proficient at filing and organizing documents, records, etc.Personal Computer proficient with solid knowledge of MS Office.Able to demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of relevant standards.Excellent interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to be part of a team.Education and/or Experience: BA/BS degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or other related field with 5 – 8 years of experience in safety and health related functions, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry.
