Participate in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives which provide individuals with meaningful and challenging experiences consistent with the overall goals and objectives of the facility.\n\nResponsibilities\nStaff Relations\n\nCreate a safe work environment that promotes open communication in which staff feels safe in reporting concerns.\n\nCommunicate effectively both verbally and in writing.\n\nSeek staff’s input, encourage creativity, and empower staff to make decisions.\n\nFacilitate staff teamwork.\n\nEncourage staff to maintain appropriate boundaries between personal and professional issues.\n\nTeach, coach, counsel, and provide feedback and support to staff in achieving direct support competencies.\n\nFacilitating and Supporting Individual reports; address any concerns and report pertinent observations to the manager.\n\nProvide feedback to staff on performance, complete performance reviews, and issue disciplinary action when necessary.\n\nAttend all employee relations-related meetings as required (i.e. unemployment hearings)\n\nHave a working knowledge of HR policies and procedures and seek consultation when necessary.\n\nPlan special events and activities with input from staff and individuals.\n\nCommunicate with other supervisors and support personnel (i.e., secretarial, finance/billing, dietary, transportation, facilities, purchasing, human resources, and health services) to resolve concerns.\n\nListen and respond to staff questions and crises and follow up as needed initiate discussions and facilitate debriefing sessions with staff following the use of emergency restraint and other significant incidents.\n\nRespect the confidentiality and privacy of staff.\n\nMonitor, report, and address employee job satisfaction and morale.\n\nLeading Training and Staff Development Activities\n\nInspire, motivate, teach, coach, and counsel staff to achieve high levels of performance.\n\nAttend in-service training and work with direct supervisors to develop a personal development plan.\n\nProvide orientation and on-the-job training to new staff and ongoing staff training to all staff.\n\nIncluding but not limited to the sharing of appropriate training resources and training related to individual specific needs.\n\nSolicit feedback from staff, individuals, and their families
