Being part of this team allows engineers to collaborate across multiple disciplines, contribute to complex and impactful projects, and develop a well-rounded understanding of modern power infrastructure up to 69kV.\n\nThe work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-yrbrid\n\nThis role is contributing to the Automation Energy Industries division in Houston, TX.\n\nYour role and responsibilities:\n\nSupport engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery through effective technical leadership, coordination, and adherence to project scope, schedule, and quality expectations.\nComplete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects.\nDevelop, review, and approve electrical engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, industry standards, and ABB engineering practices.\nAttend customer technical meetings, design reviews, and interdisciplinary engineering coordination meetings.\nManage assigned engineering scope, technical risks, engineering schedules, and change management activities in collaboration with Project Management.\nSupport factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities as required.\nCoordinate and provide technical oversight of multi-discipline vendors and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements, engineering standards, schedules, and overall project objectives.\n\nAdditional tasks with varying scope depending on experience level:\n\nPerform power system studies (e.g., short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, load flow) to support protection design and validate system performance.\nCreate substation and electrical building integration design packages and follow those projects from the conceptual stage to construction completion.\nDevelop protection and control system designs, including relay selection, protection philosophies, settings development, configuration, and coordination.\nDesign/implementation of power management systems (PMS).\n\nOur Team Dynamics\n\nOur teams support each other, collaborate, and never stop learning. Being part of our team means your work matters - because the progress we make here creates real impact out there.\n\nQualifications for the role\n\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.\n2+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with demonstrated success supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects.\nExperience in one of the following technical areas:\nPower system studies and associated software (ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, EasyPower)\nSubstation and electrical building design.\nProtection and control system design, including relay applications, settings, and integration.\nStrong understanding of relevant industry standards and codes (IEEE, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, IEC, or equivalent as applicable).\nDemonstrated experience serving as an Electrical Engineer low to medium complexity engineering projects.\nProven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate technical execution across multiple concurrent projects.\nExcellent technical problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.\nSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination with an interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.\nYou enjoy occasionally working in the field and traveling to customer and manufacturing sites to support project execution (approx. 25% travel).\n\nWhat's in it for you\n\nWe empower you to take initiative, challenge ideas, and lead with confidence.
