Level of responsibility, title, and compensation will commensurate with experience and qualifications.\n\nJob Summary\nAs part of our Engineering Services Department the Structural Engineer supports the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of structural systems across oil and gas, chemical, and related industrial facilities. This role is responsible for structural analysis and design, member and foundation sizing, preparation of engineering drawings and calculations, and support of construction and field activities. The Structural Engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams from early concept development through detailed engineering and implementation.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nDevelop and update structural design deliverables, including engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, and construction drawings for steel, concrete, and other structural systems.\nPerform structural analysis and design of buildings, pipe racks, equipment supports, platforms, access structures, towers, and foundations using appropriate software and engineering methods.\nSize and specify structural members, connections, and foundations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.\nEvaluate loads and load combinations (dead, live, wind, seismic, thermal, piping, equipment, erection, and operational loads) and apply them consistently in structural designs.\nReview and interpret geotechnical reports and incorporate recommendations into foundation and structural design.\nPrepare and review structural drawings and details, working closely with designers and CAD personnel to ensure accuracy, clarity, and constructability.\nSupport brownfield and existing-facility work, including field walkdowns, evaluation of existing structures, and design of retrofits and modifications.\nParticipate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and safety-related evaluations of structural designs, and incorporate recommendations into engineering deliverables.\nPrepare and review technical documentation, including design basis documents, calculations, specifications, and engineering memoranda.\nCoordinate closely with civil, geotechnical, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and project management teams to ensure structural designs align with overall project objectives and constraints.\nReview and comment on vendor and fabricator drawings, equipment support requirements, and package designs to confirm consistency with structural design and project specifications.\nProvide technical support during construction, including review of shop drawings, response to RFIs, participation in site visits, and resolution of field engineering issues.\nContribute structural input to project planning activities, including scope definition, estimating, and schedule development.\nCommunicate clearly with internal stakeholders and clients, presenting technical findings and recommendations in a concise, actionable manner.\nMentor junior engineers or designers and, at senior/lead levels, take responsibility for leading structural work packages and coordinating with project management.\nPerform other related duties as assigned to support project and departmental objectives.\n\nSkills and Qualifications\nBachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering, or a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.\nApproximately 5 to 20+ years of progressive structural engineering experience in industrial facilities such as oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, and related heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.\nActive Professional Engineer (PE) license in a U.S. state is required; ability to obtain reciprocity in South Carolina within a reasonable timeframe if not already licensed there.\nStructural Engineer (SE) license is highly favorable/preferred, particularly for candidates considered at Senior or Lead Structural Engineer levels.\nStrong background in analysis and design of structural steel and reinforced concrete systems for industrial facilities, including pipe racks, equipment supports, platforms, access structures, buildings, and foundations.\nProficiency with structural analysis and design software (for example, STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, or similar tools), along with standard engineering calculation tools such as Mathcad.\nIn-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and relevant client and site standards.\nExperience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, design reports, specifications, and construction drawing packages, with attention to constructability and field conditions.\nExperience interpreting geotechnical reports and incorporating recommendations into foundation and structural design.\nExperience with brownfield and existing-facility work, including field walkdowns, evaluation of existing structures, retrofit design, and structural modifications, is preferred.\nExperience supporting construction, including review of shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and providing field engineering support during erection and installation, is strongly preferred.\nProven ability to coordinate effectively with civil, geotechnical, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and project management disciplines in a multi-discipline EPC environment.\nDemonstrated experience leading work packages, mentoring junior engineers or designers, and interfacing with clients, consistent with Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Lead Structural Engineer levels.\nExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills, with sound engineering judgment.\nProficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).\nValid driver’s license and suitable driving record that meets company driver requirements, with the ability to obtain a TWIC card if required.\nAbility to work effectively in a multi-discipline, fast-paced environment.\nAbility to read and understand policies, procedures, and processes, and apply them consistently.\nStrong written and oral communication skills.\nOrganized, goal-driven, and self-motivated, with a commitment to high quality.\nConsistent record of excellent attendance and work performance.\nAbility to pass an approved background check.\nAbility to pass a drug and alcohol test and participate in random drug testing as required.\nAs a condition of employment, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States in accordance with applicable law.
