Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years.\r\nAbout the role\r\nYou'll build the core systems that power the fab product, focusing on backend architecture, data models, and integrations with hardware and internal systems.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nBuild and maintain backend APIs for the product\r\nDesign and maintain core data models (recipes, runs, tools, wafers, jobs, etc.)\r\nIntegrate with hardware / embedded systems\r\nEnsure reliability, observability, performance of systems\r\nOwn system architecture and long-term scalability\r\nRequirements\r\nStrong experience in backend systems (Go, Rust, GRPC)\r\nDeep understanding of systems fundamentals (concurrency, networking, databases)\r\nExperience designing and maintaining production systems\r\nComfortable owning systems under real-world constraints (oncall, failures, etc.)\r\nStrong opinions on architecture and code quality\r\nNice to have\r\nExperience with hardware / embedded systems\r\nDeep database knowledge (Postgres internals, migrations, performance)\r\nInterest in networking, security, or distributed systems\r\nRuns a homelab / builds infra for fun\r\nWorking at Atomic Semi\r\nWe're an early-stage hardware startup with solid funding, world-class advisors, and a lab/office in San Francisco, CA.\r\nCompensation\r\nAtomic Semi is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $125,000 – $195,000. Compensation is determined based on your qualifications and experience.
