As a DSS you must have the ability to exercise flexibility and assertiveness, have a positive work ethic, problem solve, and navigate crisis situations effectively. A DSS must also be able to work without direct supervision.\nPossess a valid driver’s license and pass a Motor Vehicle Record Check.\nMust not be disqualified by criminal background studies.\nMeet the physical requirements as outlined in the physical assessment form. (pushing/pulling, lifting, bending etc.)\nAble to read and write in English.\nAble to document information electronically.\nPrior experience or training not required, but desirable.\nA Direct Support Specialist (DSS) provides care to individuals in their homes and in our community. The people we serve are vulnerable adults and children in need of support in their daily activities. A DSS must have a high level of sensitivity to the needs of individuals with disabilities. Ability to exercise flexibility, have a positive work ethic, manage crisis situations effectively and problem solve.
