Today, our northern stores operate in communities with populations from 500 to 7,000, offering food, family apparel, housewares, appliances, outdoor products, and services including quick-service prepared food, special ordering, money transfers, and check cashing.About The RoleThe Systems Manager at Pacific Alaska Wholesale (PAW) is accountable to develop and support sustainable working procedures. This includes working closely with the PAW Operations Manager along with accounting and logistics personnel and providing stakeholders with effective and timely management information. The role supports the business in the improvement of customer service by interfacing with vendors, PAW Operations, logistics, and warehouse team to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment and inventory management. The role provides actionable insight into operational or inventory related improvements to the VP of Wholesale. If you thrive in a fast-paced operations environment where your analytical mindset and cross-functional collaboration directly shape business outcomes, this role is built for you.Your Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a small team, setting clear expectations, fostering accountability, and supporting individual growth within a collaborative team environmentManage computing production systems to ensure reliable, stable, and available services for use by stakeholders and service providersAnalyze PAW functions, processes, and activities to improve operational and business software applications for the most effective use of capital, equipment, and peopleDevelop, implement, and provide effective and timely management information to business stakeholdersAnalyze and develop documentation of current and future business requirementsDevelop performance measures that provide actionable insight into sales growth within the wholesale businessOwn the entire ERP system and lead the migration to a new systemSupervise an inventory and data support team accountable for:Reviewing all receiving, vendor, shipping, and invoice transaction paperworkChecking for issues or discrepancies; performing analysis and taking corrective action to complete customer ordersEntering all receiving, vendor, shipping, and invoice paperwork into the ERP system once issues are resolvedPerforming inventory transactions and adjustments as requiredMaintaining accurate vendor, customer, item, cost, and sales data records within the ERP system Researching and reporting causes of mis-picks and leftovers to appropriate partiesActively work with warehouse team members and office staff to build appreciation and understanding of team processesMonitor and maintain inventory with independent authority to:Research vendors, request quotes, negotiate with potential vendors, and make recommendations to management for vendor selectionPlace orders for inventory, including authorization of substitutions for vendor-discontinued or back-ordered itemsSet delivery times to maintain appropriate inventory levelsMaintain records and handle returned goodsAudit order shipments and delivery dates to identify opportunities to combine orders, improve fulfillment, expedite delivery, and reduce freight costsSkills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent from a 4-year college, or five years of related experience, training, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExtensive MS Office Suite experience, including advanced Excel proficiency; strong analytical and financial acumenStrong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to independently manage workload in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to train, develop, and lead team membersAbility to problem-solve complex issues and know when to escalateStrong customer service skills with an operations-focused mindset and understanding of customer impactAbility to learn and navigate the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systemHigh attention to detail and a strong drive to achieve goalsAbility to remain calm under pressure and thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environmentAbility to travel approximately 10% of the timeLogistics background preferredRetail or wholesale management experience preferredWORKING CONDITIONSOffice and warehouse environmentAbility to lift 25+ poundsPrimarily computer-based work; ability to sit or stand for extended periodsMultiple phone calls and meetings on a daily/weekly basisOpen-area office settingWe create a collaborative and constructive culture by:Acting with Integrity Fostering Excellence Respecting Others Working Collaboratively Being Accountable The North West Company is committed to inclusion and diversity and encourages applications from all candidates including but not limited to: all religions and ethnicities, LGBTQ2s+, BIPOC, and persons with disabilities.
