26-27 SES Elementary Teacher (1st Grade)
Position Open Until FilledGeneral Description: Teachers are responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating instruction based upon standards set by the Virginia Department of Education and King George County Schools. Teachers engage students in diverse and dynamic learning opportunities intended to develop them as successful community members.Essential Responsibilities:Uses school division curriculum to plan and deliver instruction and activities that maximize learning time and result in student mastery and application of knowledge and skills.Develops and implements instructional plans that are available for reviewOrganizes learning activities to achieve specific instructional goalsAssesses student learning on an ongoing basis, using formative and summative structures, and alters plans based on findings to meet individual and group needsDevelops and maintains a positive and effective learning environmentEstablishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationshipsCollaborates and communicates with other team members in planning and instruction to maximize educational successTakes all necessary precautions and actions to protect student safety and well-being as well as school and division facilities, materials, and equipmentSelects and uses appropriate instructional materials, tools, and technologies to meet individual and group needsSupervises students during instructional and non-instructional time in and outside of the classroom (before and after school during school activities, field trips, emergency drills, during class changes, etc.)Attends and participates in department and faculty meetings and other school functions, as assigned or requestedEnsures compliance with existing applicable federal, state, and local statutes, policies, regulations, and guidelines related to public schoolEffectively guides and supervises instructional assistants to enhance student learning outcomesPerforms related duties as required or assignedQUALIFICATIONS: Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure in Elementary EducationApplicant with teaching experience must have an acceptable rating from previous employerAbility to effectively use and integrate technologySalary Information:2026-2027 Proposed Teacher Salary ScaleSee THIS LINK for current salary scales.Educational Supplements:Master's: +7% of base salaryBA + 15: $750Teacher National Board Certification: $2,000Doctorate: $2000Note: Salary steps do not necessarily equate with years of experience. Credit on the teacher salary scale will be awarded for full-time teaching experience in a public or accredited private school. Other relevant experience may be given consideration.Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Employees are required to use hands to handle, feel, or reach objects, materials, and/or controlsThe employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 poundsRegular contact with students, other staff, parents, medical professionals, and other community members may be requiredThe employee must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air qualityJob responsibilities may include both inside and outside dutiesSitting, standing, and walking may be required for extended periods of time.
