This position assists with furniture delivery, relocation, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair across campus facilities and residence halls. The Auxiliary Warehouse Assistant is also responsible for inventory management, fulfillment of work orders, receiving and distributing materials, and supporting warehouse organization and efficiency. The position requires routine travel to various on-campus and off-campus locations and a commitment to providing exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, and campus guests.\n\nExamples of Duties\n\nWarehouse Operations & Logistics\n\nAssist the Warehouse Supervisor in preparing, coordinating, and completing work orders related to furniture delivery, pickup, relocation, installation, and repair.\nReceive, inspect, verify, and process incoming inventory, furniture, equipment, and warehouse materials, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.\nPick, pack, stage, and transport materials for delivery, storage, or distribution.\nLoad, unload, move, and deliver furniture, equipment, and supplies to campus departments, residence halls, and other designated locations.\nSupport inventory control procedures by accurately tracking, storing, and organizing materials and supplies.\nMaintain a clean, orderly, and safe warehouse environment in compliance with departmental and university standards.\nOperate warehouse equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly while following established procedures and safety protocols.\nFurniture Assembly, Installation & Maintenance\n\nAssemble, install, and relocate furniture and equipment as assigned.\nPerform basic furniture repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance.\nAssist with room setups, event preparations, and furniture reconfigurations as needed.\nReport damaged furniture, equipment, or safety concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor promptly.\nCustomer Service & Campus Support\n\nCollaborate with Auxiliary Services and other campus departments to ensure efficient and timely service\nSupport residence hall openings, closings, room transitions, and special campus projects.\nConduct routine inspections and walkthroughs of residence halls to support operational readiness for the Fall and Spring semesters.\nMaintain professional communication with supervisors, team members, and campus stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of work activities.\nContribute to a positive customer service culture by providing responsive and courteous support to the campus community.\nOperational Support\n\nComplete assigned tasks accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.\nAssist in maintaining overall warehouse productivity, efficiency, and service quality.\nParticipate in departmental training and safety programs as required.\nPerform other duties as assigned to support Auxiliary Services operations.\n\nTypical Qualifications\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.\nAbility to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.\nAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.\nCommitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nPrevious experience in warehouse operations, moving services, logistics, facilities support, or related fields.\nExperience with inventory management and material handling.\nBasic knowledge of furniture assembly, repair, or maintenance techniques.\nExperience working in a higher education or customer service environment preferred.\nForklift or material handling equipment experience is a plus.\n\nSupplemental Information\n\nPhysical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
