SummaryFoundation Academies seeks a highly effective and detail-oriented Summer Academy Assistant Principal (6–8) to support the Summer Academy Principal in delivering a rigorous, well-executed summer program.The Assistant Principal is responsible for ensuring strong daily execution of instruction, consistent classroom expectations, and real-time use of data to improve student outcomes. This role serves as the primary driver of instructional quality and teacher support, while also ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.This is a leadership role for someone who can coach adults, monitor systems, and ensure that what is planned is executed at a high level every day. This role includes pre-program planning and post-program follow-through. Success will be measured by instructional quality across classrooms, teacher effectiveness and growth, student academic progress, and strength of daily program execution.Reports ToSummer Academy PrincipalProgram DetailsDates: July 13 – August 6Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8am-3:30pmLocation: Trenton, NJMust be available in person for all Summer Academy datesCompensationTotal Stipend: $4,000Payment Structure:50% paid prior to the start of Summer Academy in recognition of:Supporting staffing and readinessAssisting with student enrollment follow-upPreparing instructional and operational systems50% paid upon successful completion of the program, contingent upon:Full execution of responsibilitiesSubmission of required materials and dataMeeting expectations for instructional quality and program executionKey ResponsibilitiesInstructional Leadership & Teacher DevelopmentConduct daily walkthroughs to monitor instructional quality across classroomsEnsure alignment between standards, objectives, instruction, and assessmentReview lesson plans and provide clear, actionable feedback to teachersSupport teachers in strengthening:Academic rigorStudent discourseChecks for understandingLead or support instructional planning meetings focused on improving classroom outcomesData & Progress MonitoringEnsure consistent use of daily data trackers and exit ticketsAnalyze student performance trends and identify instructional gaps and misconceptionsSupport teachers in adjusting instruction based on real-time dataMonitor progress toward program goals and flag areas requiring immediate attentionOperations & Daily ExecutionSupport the Principal in managing daily program operations, including:Attendance and student engagementBehavior systems and expectationsTransitions and overall structureEnsure classrooms are orderly, focused, and maximizing instructional timeProvide coverage as needed to maintain continuity of instructionStaff Support & CommunicationServe as a primary point of support for teachers throughout the programCommunicate regularly with the Summer Academy Principal regarding:Instructional qualityStaff performanceStudent progressReinforce expectations and ensure consistency across classroomsPre-Program ResponsibilitiesSupport staffing efforts and ensure readiness of instructional teamAssist with student enrollment follow-up to ensure strong attendanceHelp establish systems for:Lesson planningData trackingDaily schedules and routinesQualificationsNJ Certification requiredExperience in instructional leadership (i.e., Instructional Dean, Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, grade-level lead) strongly preferredDemonstrated ability to:Coach and develop teachersAnalyze data and drive instructional improvementMaintain strong systems and follow-throughStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsCommitment to equity and experience working with diverse student populations
