Apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.\r\nAbout this job\r\nThe Hourly Summer Program Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides observation, coaching, modeling and training, on a referral basis, to school teams who request support with individual students who exhibit behaviors that interfere with their learning or the learning of others. Collaborates as part of a multidisciplinary Behavior Team and partners with building-based school social workers and school psychologists, special educators, school administrators, paraprofessionals and other central office staff in the development and implementation of data-driven, evidence-based positive behavior interventions and supports. The goal of these supports is to develop adults' prevention, intervention and reinforcement skills to promote students' positive behaviors. Works under the guidance of someone who is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.\r\nThis is a temporary hourly summer position only. Click here for more information on compensation for these roles.\r\nIn addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement.\r\nWhat You'll Do\r\nIn collaboration with district Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), school social workers/psychologists, Behavior Intervention Specialists, and other special educators and school administrators, supports and coaches building staff in evaluating, implementing, and monitoring specially designed instruction based on evidence-based behavioral interventions and accommodations.\r\nDelivers direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to support students with disabilities requiring ABA as part of their IEP or 504 plan.\r\nImplements district-based data collection systems.\r\nAttends relevant in-service training and required meetings.\r\nCollaborates with team members to develop and deliver monthly training sessions for school staff and special education team members.\r\nMay also conduct direct Applied Behavior Analysis assessments for students with IEPs or 504 plans.\r\nSupport building staff to\r\nImplement specially designed instruction to improve outcomes for students with challenging behavior.\r\nProvide positive behavior supports.\r\nSupport school staff in their implementation of behavior intervention plans and provide behavioral supports to students.\r\nCoach SE&O paraprofessional staff serving students with behavioral challenges.\r\nModel and coach for school staff the use of\r\nPositive multi-tiered systems of supports\r\nReplacement strategies/re-direction when implementing positive behavior supports and supporting students.\r\nConsult with the school's problem-solving process to improve outcomes for students with behavioral challenges.\r\nAttend appropriate in-services training and required meetings.\r\nPerform other duties as assigned.\r\nWhat You'll Need\r\nMinimum of a High School Diploma/GED in Education, Behavior (ABA), Special Education, Child Development, Psychology or related field, or 1–3 years of related experience.\r\nBachelor's Degree is preferred.\r\nRegistered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification in the State of Colorado is required.\r\n1+ years of related experience is required.\r\nBilingual in Spanish is preferred.\r\nThe ability to take responsibility for one's own performance.\r\nEffective communication skills.\r\nEffectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.\r\nStrong attention to detail.\r\nHigh degree of integrity in handling confidential information.\r\nAbility to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.\r\nWork collaboratively with others on a team.\r\nAptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment is preferred.\r\nProficiency in oral and written communication skills is preferred.\r\nComputer proficiency is preferred.\r\nEffective skills in time and people management is preferred.\r\nEffective skills in conflict resolution is preferred.\r\nUnderstanding of, and sensitivity to, various cultures and issues is preferred.\r\nRespect of confidentiality and integrity to students as a district official is preferred.\r\nAbility to be flexible with schedule and workday.\r\nAbility to travel among school locations.\r\nA valid Colorado driver's license and car with appropriate insurance.\r\nLead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.\r\nLive and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.\r\nHave the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.\r\nDenver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
