Client-specific guidelines may also contribute to the coding and validation process. This role will be responsible for reviewing a patient’s complete record and assigning ICD-10-CM codes and specifically those mapping to HCCs, for completeness and accuracy. In addition to HCC coding responsibilities, this role may also include Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding, depending on business needs.\nWhy This Role Matters\nThe HCC & E/M coding role is an important part of the organization because it bridges accurate coding with value-based care.
