PropTrack provides property data and technical platform solutions to customers in the financial and government sectors. The Engineering Team within PropTrack works together to deliver solutions to our internal and external customers. It is the core delivery centre for developing solutions to meet customer priorities and align with PropTrack's technology strategy.\r\nWithin PropTrack, this Senior Data Engineer role is part of the Core Property Data (CPD) team. CPD is responsible for building and operating property-centric data platforms and APIs that power a wide range of internal products and external data solutions across REA and PropTrack, with a particular focus on Prime, our next-generation property data platform.\r\nWhat the role is all about\r\n\r\nDesigning, building and maintaining data pipelines, models and APIs across ingestion, transformation and consumption layers.\r\nContribute to and lead technical design and architecture discussions, helping shape how our data, property datasets and APIs evolve to support current and future use cases.\r\nWorking with technologies such as Airflow/Breeze, BigQuery, Kafka and modern backend languages (e.g. TypeScript/Node,  Python) to deliver accurate, timely and reliable property data.\r\nEnhancing existing products, including resolving data quality issues, improving performance and implementing scalable patterns.\r\nSupporting production systems by contributing to monitoring, observability, automation and operational best practices.\r\nEnsuring the reliability, security and resilience of our systems in line with REA's \"you build it, you run it\" philosophy.\r\nCollaborating with engineers, analysts and product managers to understand requirements and design high-quality, user-centred solutions.\r\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers in your squad, lifting engineering practices and supporting less experienced team members.\r\n\r\nWho we're looking for\r\n\r\nStrong API experience required in owning, building and integrating APIs\r\n5+ years of hands on experience in the industry, working in some or all of data engineering, full stack software engineering and platform engineering, with a focus on data intensive systems at scale.\r\nStrong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g. TypeScript/Node.js,  Python), plus strong SQL capability for analytical and production workloads.\r\nProven experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data models using tools such as Airflow/Breeze and BigQuery, or equivalent orchestration and warehouse technologies.\r\nSolid understanding of data modelling, data quality and data governance practices, and how to apply them in large scale property or transactional data environments.\r\nExperience working with cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS) and DevOps concepts such as Docker, CI/CD and infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).\r\nDemonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve data quality issues, performance problems and production incidents in distributed data systems.\r\nAbility to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, analysts, product managers and other stakeholders as required.\r\nA curious, pragmatic mindset with a passion for building reliable, scalable data solutions that deliver real value for customers and internal teams.\r\n\r\nThe REA experience\r\nThe physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we'll never stop caring about.
