We are looking for an experienced and self‑motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Process Engineer within our Corporate Engineering organization. The work location is at our Corporate Engineering office in Pasadena, TX.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nSafety is paramount at Oxy. In every activity we maintain the health and safety of our employees, customers and community as well as protect the environment in which we operate.\n\nIncorporate Process Safety and Risk Management principles into the foundation of all work performed.\n\nProvide Process Engineering Support to Projects and Special Studies by:\n\nLeading the Front End Loading Activities\n\nTechnology evaluation and selection,\n\nPreliminary through detailed scope development,\n\nDeveloping heat and material balances,\n\nPreparing PFD’s,\n\nPreparing P&ID’s,\n\nPreparing equipment and instrument datasheets,\n\nPreparing system package specifications, and\n\nDirect and supervise work and performance of contracted engineering firms’ process engineering discipline to ensure accuracy.\n\nParticipating in PHA’s\n\nDeveloping operating procedures\n\nProviding training to engineers and operator technicians\n\nProvide construction support and participate in PSSR’s, commissioning and start‑up.\n\nProvide expertise in technology and chemical processing knowledge.\n\nBecome a subject matter expert for the corporation for a specific technology and then develop and maintain corporate commandments, guidelines, specifications and best practices for the technology.\n\nProvide support to manufacturing sites assisting with troubleshooting process issues based on experience and expertise.\n\nAssure corporate policies, procedures, and standards are followed by yourself and by contractors working for you.\n\nMaintain technical expertise in codes, recommended practices and standards. Apply that expertise to procedures, selection and application of equipment in our process technologies, through individual effort and ongoing training.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years functional experience in production and/or process engineering performed in the chemical/petrochemical industry. Experience in chlor‑alkali, brine treatment, caustic processes, and/or vinyl technology preferred.\n\nProficiency in process engineering principles and methods.\n\nAbility to communicate with a broad spectrum of plant and corporate personnel.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nProficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).\n\nFamiliarity with SAP or equivalent computerized inventory management software.\n\nSelf‑starter with a strong desire to deliver superior results.\n\nStrong analytical/problem‑solving skills.\n\nA proven team player capable of working in a multi‑discipline team environment with a desire to share knowledge.\n\nManagerial Courage – be willing to take a stand on issues that may not be popular and not be afraid to take negative action when necessary.\n\nExcellent leadership, mentoring and team work skills with the ability to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced professionals.\n\nAbility to travel as required to support assignments. Travel is estimated at 25% on a yearly basis with the majority of travel being one to four day trips to plant sites and engineering offices.\n\nAbility to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts as needed.\n\nPhysical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.
