This role requires you to currently be living in the Cary area. Every day our emergency response software helps coordinate rescues for hikers, boaters, adventurers, motorists, and pilots. Our satellite-based communication devices ensure that these people stay in contact with emergency services and communicate with their loved ones from anywhere on the globe. Click here to check out the “Saved by Garmin” blog for real-life rescues.\n\nYou’ll work with the latest version of .NET, test with cutting-edge Garmin devices, send messages through satellites, use modern CI/CD tools to support a web application architecture in our multi-cloud environment. The team is super supportive, works hard and has fun.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nEssential Functions\n\nCreates and executes small sets of new functionalities as part of a software project using C#, React & Javascript, and TypeScript to improve our web-based app and API\nUtilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process.\nCollaborates and adds value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.\nProvides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques.\nPerforms technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems.\nContributes to technical research on new technologies.\nEstimates level of effort, evaluates new options of similar technology, offers suggestions to improve processes, and provides feedback on some design aspects.\nServes as a mentor to less experienced software engineers (Software Engineer 1)\nSupports working hours as part of a rotating schedule to provide on call support of Garmin’s 24/7 operations.\nQualifications:\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience (not including co-ops or internships) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience\nExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)\nDemonstrated proficiency and experience necessary to develop moderately complex software in C# or Java\nProficient knowledge, utilization and mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers)\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\nOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5\nExperience with the latest versions of .NET, ideally with web apps/APIs with Entity Framework and a relational database\nExperience with Terraform to provision cloud infrastructure\nJavascript or Typescript expertise\n\nGarmin Blog\n\nSaved by Garmin - All Content | Garmin Blog\n\nReal stories from people who survived dangerous situations.\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
