Marketing and Communications Manager
Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance seeks a self-motivated and entrepreneurial Marketing and Communications Manager to support its integrated marketing and audience development efforts. We are seeking a highly organized, creative individual who can translate organizational priorities into clear, multichannel campaigns. This is a hands-on, largely in-person role, responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies. Duties including writing and producing multimedia content, building and managing campaigns from planning through execution and engagement tracking, and ensuring cohesive, top-tier execution across all platforms.Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Manager collaborates closely with leadership across artistic, development, and education teams, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. This individual will serve as a key member of a team dedicated to the advancement of the Graham Company and its School.Primary Responsibilities and DutiesDeveloping, execute and implement dynamic, multichannel print and digital media for the Martha Graham Dance Company’s activities, including annual New York season, Studio Series, Gala and other performances, events, and audience development initiativesDevelop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to enhance local, national, and global awareness of the Martha Graham School, promoting enrollment and program growthCollaborate closely with the Development Department, designing and executing integrated campaigns that build and diversify the organization’s base of support, strengthen donor relationships, foster strategic artistic collaborations and partnerships, and drive philanthropic engagementCollaborate with the Company’s Press Agent to manage the organization’s editorial presenceSupport the Partnerships Coordinator in executing social media strategy, including influencer and partner collaborationsCapture and oversee production of digital content, including photos, videos and short-form mediaManage distribution of digital media to presenters, press, other media outlets, and internallyDevelop and strengthen systems for communication and workflow across departmentsSupervise the Marketing Associate, to be engaged in Fall 2026.Requirements and Qualifications3+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the performing arts or nonprofit sectorDemonstrated success in audience development, revenue growth, and brand buildingExceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skillsExperience developing and managing integrated marketing campaignsHigh level of skill and proficiency in digital content creation, including videography, video editing, dance photography and photo retouching, and digital media intake and optimizationHigh level of skill and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro; FinalCut ProProficiency in Microsoft O365, Google Workspace, and WordPressExperience with Salesforce (or other) CRM systems, GoFundMe (or other) fundraising platforms, email marketing best practices, Google Analytics and other digital metrics platforms, and Meta for BusinessExcellent understanding of web-based and online marketing techniquesExcellent command of verbal and written EnglishExcellent interpersonal and social skillsAbility to work as part of a team, with the recognition that members of a small staff must support each other and pitch in to help, sometimes outside of one’s area of responsibilityStrong project management and leadership skills and an ability to motivate co-workers and volunteersMinimum of a Bachelor’s degreeTo apply, please send a cover letter and resume to careers@marthagraham.org with the words Marketing and Communications Manager in the Subject line.Pay Range: $75,000-$80,000The new candidate will be in place no later than September 2026.Applications will be accepted by email only.
