Tyrell Library. This specialized technical role is responsible for the architecture, integration, and optimization of the digital systems that power the Libraries' online services. The position manages the backend platforms and collaborates with the Electronic Resources Librarian to manage electronic resources, authentication systems, and embedded tools that support research, instruction, and student learning. The Assistant Librarian (Systems Librarian) collaborates closely with the College's Web Developer and ensures that library systems and digital services are properly configured, accessible, and seamlessly incorporated into the College's core web environment in alignment with SUNY standards and campus Information Technology (IT) protocols. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and a commitment to providing responsive and innovative reference services.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nProvide centralized oversight and ensure that library systems, specifically the Ex Libris Alma and Primo platform, perform reliably to support circulation, cataloguing, acquisitions, and resource sharing.\n\nCollaborate with Electronic Resources, Access Services, Instruction and Outreach, and Resource Sharing to enhance efficiency, minimize service interruptions, and promote innovation in library services.\n\nServe as primary liaison alongside the Electronic Resource Librarian between the Library and the College's Information Technology Services, ensuring that the library systems align with institutional technology standards, cybersecurity protocols, and single sign-on (SSO) authentication systems.\n\nProvide timely and efficient troubleshooting and resolution for technical issues across library platforms.\n\nPlan and execute system updates, platform enhancements, and the integration of new library technology.\n\nServe as the subject liaison for assigned academic programs, partnering with faculty to support curriculum needs and student research.\n\nWork with Marketing and Communications (MarCom) to maintain the Library web page.\n\nRequirements\n\nAmerican Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) degree or equivalent degree in Information Science. Additional graduate work in an appropriate field is desirable.\n\nThree years of professional library experience, or appropriate combination of librarianship, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.\n\nExperience in the use of traditional and electronic resources.\n\nFamiliarity with library-oriented hardware and software.\n\nMust be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with the Ex Libris Alma and Primo platforms.\n\nExperience with the Springshare LibGuides and related Springshare produces (e.g., LibGuides), ILLiad, and Ellucian Banner.\n\nFunctional understanding of Google analytics.\n\nConversant with WCAG 2.1 AA digital accessibility standards and best practices for inclusive design.\n\nAdditional Information\nThis is an in-person position with a standard work week of Monday through Friday.\n\nThe minimum salary for this position is $67,820.
