Operations Manager
Our client is one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of heavy-section finished steel castings, specializing in mild and alloy castings. The company serves a diverse range of industries, including oil and gas, hydro-electric, aerospace, construction and mining, pumps and valves, injection molding, stamping, and machine tooling.Position OverviewThe Operations Manager will oversee daily operations within the Machining division, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and a safe working environment. This role is responsible for driving operational performance across key functional areas, including the melting shop and quality/finishing departments, while supporting overall business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage day-to-day operations (60–70 employees)Oversee production planning, scheduling, and workflow to meet customer demands and deadlinesEnsure adherence to quality standards across melting, casting, and finishing processesDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and cost reductionCollaborate with cross-functional teams including machining, engineering, and leadershipMonitor key performance metrics and implement corrective actions as neededDevelop, coach, and mentor supervisors and production staffMaintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirementsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience)5–10+ years of operations or production leadership experience in a manufacturing environmentFoundry, metal casting, or heavy manufacturing experience strongly preferredProven track record of improving operational performance and leading teamsStrong knowledge of production processes, quality systems, and safety standardsExcellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
