Job SummaryLamar University is seeking a dependable and professional Campus Security Officer to support safety and security operations at Cardinal Village student housing. This part-time position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of residents, staff, and visitors through active patrols, monitoring, and incident response.Essential Job FunctionsWhat You’ll Do – Position ResponsibilitiesPatrol Cardinal Village housing areas and monitor for safety concernsEnforce university and housing regulations consistently and fairlyRespond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, or suspicious activityMonitor building access and verify authorization for entry when requiredProvide assistance to students, staff, and visitors with directions or safety escortsReport hazards, safety violations, and incidents to supervisory staffPrepare written reports of daily activity, incidents, and security concernsAssist with crowd control, special events, and emergency procedures as directedPerform other security-related duties as assignedMinimum and Desired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentMust be at least 18 years of ageAbility to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periodsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situationsDependable, punctual, and professional in conductAbility to patrol indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 25 lbs and respond physically to emergency situationsPreferred QualificationsPrior security, law enforcement, or military experienceCPR, First Aid, or related safety training/certificationsKnowledge of campus safety practices or residential community securityLamar University is An Equal Opportunity EmployerLamar University is proud to provide employment preference to veteran applicants in accordance with Texas 805 Government Code, Section 657.003.This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
