Who You Are: Versar is seeking a Lead Engineer - Full Stack Development within our Geospatial & Digital Solutions (GDS) Market Sector. We are a rapidly growing unit focused on integrating emerging technologies with our industry-leading geospatial capabilities. This position requires this talented candidate to lead a team of skilled engineers and support and implement the technical vision for our organization and customers. Your knowledge and experience will be crucial in shaping our software solutions. If you’re passionate about innovation, collaboration, and delivering high-quality products, we’d love to have you on board. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience providing a combination of skills to work on both front-end and back-end engineering. They should have a strong understanding of programming languages and frameworks, as well as knowledge of databases, web security, and other technologies. This should include proficiency in front-end languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as back-end languages like Python, Ruby, PHP, Java, or .NET. They should also be familiar with front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. Have managed SQL databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL, as well as NoSQL databases like MongoDB, understand web security basics like authentication and authorization, system logging and monitoring, and protection against code injection attacks. The candidate will also need to demonstrate the knowledge of deploying and maintaining web applications, as well as version control systems tools like Git. What You’ll Do: Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technical roadmap for our full stack development projects. Provide guidance on architecture, design patterns, and best practices. Mentor and lead a team of developers, ensuring high-quality code and efficient development processes. Geospatial Solutions: Leverage your expertise in geospatial technologies (such as Esri ArcGIS, CAD, Cesium, and other GIS tools) to enhance our location-based features. Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to integrate geospatial data into our applications. Maintain data integrity and interoperability through project and data workflows. Visualization: Incorporate geospatial data and 3D modeling data for visualization. Be able to work with multiple 3D visualization platforms and integrate existing software and capabilities into stack. Cloud Platforms: Drive the adoption of cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure. Architect scalable and secure solutions using Azure services (e.g., Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database). AI Integration: Explore opportunities to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into our applications. Stay informed about AI trends and identify use cases where AI can enhance user experiences. Modern Application Development: Lead the development of responsive, mobile-friendly web and mobile applications. Ensure adherence to modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and microservices. Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration. What You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. At least 10 years of hands-on experience in full stack development. Proven track record of leading successful software development projects. Strong background in geospatial technologies, Azure, AWS, SQL, and AI. Proficiency in front-end and back-end technologies (JavaScript, React, Node.js, .NET, etc.). Familiarity with geospatial libraries and APIs. Knowledge of Azure and AWS services and cloud architecture. Understanding of AI concepts and practical applications. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Technical Skills: The lead engineer will wear many hats, needing proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies. Compensation Expected Salary: $135,000 – $170,000 Versar Global Solutions is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the Company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
