ARD Classroom Support Assistant (Terry)
Position Type: Paraprofessional - Campus/Instructional Assistant Date Posted: 5/29/2026 Location: Terry Middle School Mesquite ISD - Compensation Plans Instructional Support Compensation Plan Pay Grade: 1 Shift Type: Full-Time Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Principal EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible PRIMARY PURPOSE:Provide instructional assistance and student supervision in a variety of classroom settings to support student learning and ensure continuity of instruction while teachers attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings. Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment in alignment with district and campus expectations. Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDValid Texas educational aide certificate Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematicsAbility to work well with children with diverse needs, including students with disabilitiesKnowledge of general classroom management practicesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to maintain confidentiality Experience:Experience working with children preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Provide classroom coverage for teachers attending ARD committee meetings.Assist in implementing teacher-directed lesson plans and instructional activities.Help students master instructional materials and reinforce learning concepts.Provide support to students receiving special education services, including implementation of accommodations and modifications as directed.Help manage student behavior and maintain a structured learning environment.Monitor students during assigned periods to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.Assist with transitions, routines, and supervision of students in various settings.Work with individual students or small groups to support learning and engagement.Adapt to various classroom assignments, including general education and special education settings.Assist with instructional materials and classroom organization as needed.Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.Participate in staff development and training as required.Follow district safety protocols and campus procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.
