This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.As a Digital Content Specialist II, you will support UX copywriting and contentacross AMA's digital platforms, with a primary focus on FREIDA, a platform thathelps medical students search for and evaluate residency programs. The role contributesto the creation of specialty-specific informational content, user-facing copy,and messaging that helps guide medical students, residents, and physiciansthrough critical career decisions. Working under established UX and contentstandards, this role applies UX writing best practices to improve clarity,engagement, and usability. The position works closely with product, UX, andmarketing teams to ensure content is consistent, effective, and aligned withthe overall member experience.RESPONSIBILITIES:Writing and Content DevelopmentWrite comprehensive Q&A content for individual medical specialties within the FREIDA Specialty GuideDevelop and maintain informational content across FREIDA resources, including the Residency Guide and student-facing guidance materialsDevelop copy for the Program Director Portal, including guidance, instructions, and resource contentCreate push notifications, alert banners, and promotional messaging to support engagement and highlight key deadlines and seasonal activitiesCollaborate with medical education stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and clinical appropriatenessFREIDA ContentCreate clear, concise, and user-centered copy for FREIDA and AMA digital properties that support the FREIDA experience, including AMAone and related join/renew and sign-in flowsWrite and optimize UX copy for onboarding sequences, navigation, error states, and transactional touchpointsWork on landing page and member-facing content that supports usability and conversion goalsCollaborate with UX designers to integrate copy early in the design process and support effective content-design collaborationConduct content audits and contribute recommendations to improve clarity and usabilityUser Insight and Industry AwarenessDevelop an understanding of medical student, resident, and physician behaviors to inform content strategy and UX copy decisionsApply user insight and evolving UX and healthcare education trends to support product, design, and marketing initiativesRefine content based on user feedback, observed behavior, and performance dataMay include other responsibilities as assignedREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field required3+ years of experience in UX writing and content creation for complex digital products, preferably within healthcare, education, ecommerce, or membership-based organizations.Ability to translate complex or regulated information into clear, user-centered languageExperience collaborating with product, design, and marketing teams through content contributionsExperience supporting content standards, including voice, tone, and style guidelinesComfort presenting recommendations and incorporating stakeholder feedbackHands-on experience with enterprise CMS platforms, preferably Drupal, and collaboration tools including JIRA, Confluence, Asana and FigmaWorking knowledge of Google Analytics and Power BI to inform content improvementsThe American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago.This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $74,160-$98,318. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Employees are also eligible to participate in an incentive plan.
