Machine Tool TechnicianA Tool Manufacturing Firm is looking for a Machine Tool Technician in Sterling Heights, MI. The Machine Tool Technician performs all activities associated with installing, servicing, retooling and maintaining the companies Deep Rolling equipment. This role will require travel to customer sites to service machines throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical systems. The Machine Tool Technician will be based in our Sterling Heights, Michigan office.Responsibilities:Disassemble, inspect, and recondition tooling or machine components to locate damaged or worn partsPerform mechanical assembly, disassembly, alignment, and adjustments on machine tool components including spindles, slides, bearings, couplings, and drive systemsUse drawings, blueprints, and precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gages, SPC) to verify dimensionsTroubleshoot mechanical systems such as pistons, rams, pulleys, belts, gears, and lubrication systemsDiagnose and repair failures of mechanical systems to restore proper operationUse electrical schematics to test and troubleshoot supporting electrical systems including switches, PLCs, PCs, sensors, and motorsUnderstand PLC function and troubleshoot machine I/Os (experience in PLC programming a plus)Use hydraulic schematics to test and troubleshoot hydraulic power systemsOperate crankshaft measurement and testing equipment; compile and maintain records in accordance with specificationsAssist with shipping and receiving activities as neededOperate pallet stacker / forklift as requiredTesting machines to verify calibration, accuracy, and overall operationStart-up and debug of newly manufactured or rebuilt machines both in the companies USA factory and at customer facilitiesTravel both domestic and international is REQUIRED. Travel will be about 40-50% which may include weekendsLifting 40 to 50 lbs. on a regular basisQualifications:Associates or Bachelors Degree in a technical field (mechatronics or engineering preferred) OR 3-5 years of related experience in similar fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skills are REQUIREDStrong mechanical aptitude REQUIREDAbility to read and utilize technical documents REQUIREDExcellent time management skills REQUIREDMust be a self-motivated individual and be able to hit the ground running meeting the company's and client's needsStrong working knowledge of how mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic processes integrate to ensure efficient machine operationExperience in troubleshooting CNCs and/or PLCs a PLUSCustomer-Oriented mentality; able to clearly communicate technical informationMust work well with peopleMust combine professionalism and enthusiasm in approach to workProficiency in MS Office suite of productsMust possess and unrestricted Drivers LicenseLanguage Requirements:Must speak fluent English and Spanish*Must be able to read and write in both English and Spanish*Benefits:Great Benefits!
