The faculty position will support the Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology programs. Responsibilities include coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities such as developing curricula, delivering lectures, facilitating class discussions, and evaluating student work. The faculty member will also perform duties on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus as assigned, including instruction, academic counseling, advising, committee service, and participation in professional activities.\n\nJob Duties\n\nPrepare and deliver instruction on electrical and computer engineering technology topics, including digital circuits, DC and AC circuits, electronics, digital industrial control systems, power technology, robotics, programmable logic controllers, microcontrollers, digital communication systems, and computer networks.\n\nDevelop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, handouts, and laboratory exercises; conduct laboratory sessions for courses taught.\n\nCompile, administer, evaluate, and grade students’ coursework, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; keep students informed of progress through prompt grading.\n\nMaintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with FERPA regulations.\n\nMaintain office hours for students seeking academic advice and tutor students with course‑related problems; assist in the planning and implementation of continuous quality improvement plans at the department and program levels.\n\nAssist in the ABET reaccreditation process.\n\nKeep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, networking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.\n\nAttend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings called by senior academic leaders.\n\nParticipate in student recruitment, retention, registration, and placement activities; serve on departmental and college committees; provide outreach service to the community.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, electronic engineering technology, or a closely related field.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nMaster’s degree or higher in a related field.\n\nA minimum of 1–3 years of industrial experience.\n\nTeaching experience in a community college environment.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n\nKnowledge of a college academic environment.\n\nKnowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.\n\nKnowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student‑centered learning; experience interacting successfully with a diverse student population.\n\nSkill in selecting and using training, instructional methods, and procedures appropriate for the situation.\n\nSkill in active listening.\n\nSkills in organization and effective teaching.\n\nKnowledge of electrical, electronic, and digital circuits.\n\nKnowledge of programming microprocessors and microcontrollers.\n\nKnowledge of power technology.\n\nKnowledge of industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers, and robotics.\n\nKnowledge of computer networks.\n\nKnowledge of digital communication systems.\n\nKnowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT).\n\nEqual Employment Opportunity\nThe Tennessee Board of Regents does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, ethnicity, national origin, sex, disability, age, status as a protected veteran, or any other class protected by federal or state laws and regulations and by Tennessee Board of Regents policies with respect to employment, programs, and activities.
