About This PositionThe City of Phoenix Public Transit Department (PTD) provides local buses, RAPID® commuter buses, neighborhood and business circulators, Phoenix Dial-a-Ride, and alternative transportation services by contracting with private companies that manage the day-to-day transit operations. The PTD also provides planning, scheduling, and financial management support to the High-Capacity Transit program.The Public Transit Department is seeking an energetic individual to fill their Customer Service Clerk vacancy. This role is instrumental in providing first-line customer service in a fast-paced environment to ensure prompt and efficient service to our transit customers.Responsibilities IncludeProvide transit-related information to the public in person & phone. Process sales transactions for bus/rail passes. Managing, auditing, and inventorying, a cash drawer every shift. Inventories and manages lost bikes/items. Provide coverage to other transit centers based on business needs. Work cooperatively with other team members, departments, agencies, and the public. Adapting and adjusting to be inclusive of customers with various needs including customers who may be irate or distraught. This position is assigned to the Downtown Central Station; operating hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work hours are 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday and shifts vary between the hours of 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.IDEAL CANDIDATEExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance.Strong clerical ability and mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).Able to maintain composure and work effectively under stress when dealing with irate or difficult customers and deadlines.Able to multitask and learn job-related material primarily through oral instructions, written procedures, and observation, mainly in an on-the-job training environment.SALARYPay Range: $16.88 to $26.18 per hour.Hiring Range: $16.88 to $20.51 per hour.Pay Range ExplanationPay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer.
