Senior Structural Project Engineer (Hybrid) The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000-$145,000 per year. Projects may include:Higher EducationHealthcare FacilitiesIndustrial FacilitiesResearch & Science FacilitiesParking FacilitiesK-12 Educational BuildingsMixed-Use DevelopmentsHospitalityNew Buildings & AdditionsComplex RenovationsGeneral DutiesLead the analysis, design, and management of structural systems for commercial, institutional, and residential buildingsServe as the primary structural point of contact for owners, architects, and consultantsManage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multiple projectsPerform structural analysis and design in compliance with applicable codes and standardsPrepare construction documents, calculations, technical reports, plans, and specificationsConduct field reviews of existing and under-construction structuresReview shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administrationMentor junior staff and contribute to technical growthTrack project costs and schedules efficiently to meet contractual obligationsSupport client relationship building and business development effortsProject-related travel within New England and periodic travel beyondQualificationsBS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering; MS preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license required (Maine PE or ability to obtain SE a plus)10+ years of experience in building structural design, additions, renovations, and infrastructure projectsExperience with steel, concrete, masonry, precast, cold-formed metal, and wood-framed structuresProven experience managing multiple projects from concept to construction in a fast-paced environmentSkillsProficiency in Revit, RAM, Bluebeam, and MS OfficeStrong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, etc.)Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skillsLocation: Portland, ME (hybrid)Travel: Up to 10%About UsFounded in 1975, Salas O’Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for our clients, our team, and the world.
