This is a full-time position. The laboratory is committed to providing high-quality diagnostic services and innovative solutions to improve patient care.\n\nProvide day-to-day workflow management and supervision of assigned section of the Laboratory. Supporting compliance and regulatory activities for the clinical programs and operational areas of the laboratory. Assists in recruiting, training, and mentoring team members.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nIs responsible for providing day-to-day supervision of high, moderate, and waived complexity test performance by laboratory testing personnel.\n\nMust be accessible to address technical problems via on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation with testing personnel at any time that testing is performed in accordance with policies and procedures established by the laboratory Medical Director.\n\nEnsures compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards as promulgated by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities such as CLIA, TJC, CAP, AABB, etc.\n\nPlans, organizes and coordinates the work activities of assigned section(s) and shift(s).\n\nKeeps accurate attendance records on all associates; maintains time and attendance records for the department.\n\nAssists the Director/Manager in maintaining the Laboratory budget to include monthly analysis and variance reporting on expense detail.\n\nPerforms staff performance conversations that drive merit increases.\n\nDevelops, implements, and maintains current procedural manuals of all tests performed in the section(s) assigned and updates and reviews manuals biennially or more often as necessary.\n\nEnforces all safety policies and procedures.\n\nResearches, evaluates, and implements new and improved procedures, methodologies, instrumentation, and techniques as assigned by the Director/Manager.\n\nImplements an appropriate section and/or shift-specific Quality Control Program and maintains all applicable Quality Control and Functional Verification records.\n\nIs responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained. Reviews the work done by technologists/technicians working in the section(s) or shift(s) assigned to ensure a minimum of errors and corrective action in the interest of good patient care. Refers clinical problems to the laboratory director or manager as appropriate.\n\nAssures that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.\n\nOperates, maintains, and troubleshoots all equipment in assigned section(s) to keep in good working order; makes minor repairs and adjustments when necessary; initiates and follows through with Biomedical Engineering/equipment manufacturer for safety checks and repairs; schedules preventive maintenance within section with Biomedical Engineering, equipment manufacturer, or an outside contractor.\n\nPrepares and submits routine or special administrative and technical reports by due dates as required, requested, or delegated.\n\nOrders and maintains inventories for all necessary supplies and reagents in assigned section(s) to always have an adequate amount on hand.\n\nTrains new technologists and technicians in the assigned section(s) procedures and policies and provides subsequent training in all new or revised procedures and techniques for assigned shift(s) or provides remedial training as necessary. Responsible for maintaining orientation records on new associates.\n\nAssists the Director/Manager in designing, implementing, collecting, and analyzing data, and reporting all phases of a comprehensive performance improvement program that involves laboratory personnel in Performance Improvement activities.\n\nPrepares and conducts in-service education either formally or informally for assigned section(s) and shift(s).\n\nProvides input on personnel for hire, fire, transfer, interview, disciplinary probation, etc; counsels and documents technical deficiencies.\n\nPerforms skills review and competency assessments and maintains appropriate documentation on all technical personnel as delegated by the Laboratory Manager/Director.\n\nOversees and enforces expectations of personnel in assigned section(s).\n\nParticipates in proficiency testing surveys; reviews and evaluates results and maintains copies of survey records in section(s).\n\nCoordinates and attends meetings as required to discuss changes and developments regarding policies, equipment, procedures, staffing, etc.\n\nUtilizes and has a thorough working knowledge of the Laboratory Information System and applications thereof.\n\nDemonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population‑specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.\n\nAppropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age‑specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.\n\nPerforms all routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the primary section to which assigned about age (pedi) or sex‑specific values.\n\nProvides notification and documentation of critical laboratory values obtained.\n\nCalculates, enters, and/or verifies results of laboratory procedures.\n\nPerforms all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary for the performance of assigned job duties.\n\nKeeps abreast of Medical Technology, by reading Journals, texts, and technical bulletins; attends workshops and seminars; becomes active in local professional associations.\n\nActs as a liaison between staff and next level of management, and with other departments, communicating the expectations and business needs and opportunities of the department and organization.\n\nMinimum Candidate Profile\n\nBachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a regionally accredited college/university or Education that has been evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.\n\n4 years of experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician required.\n\nMust provide proof of certification or certification eligibility for MT (ASCP), CLS (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA/ASCP), or MT (AAB).\n\nSalary / Schedule / Benefits\n\nSalary starts at $81,000 and goes up depending on experience and expertise\n\n1st shift 8am-4:30pm M-F\n\nPossible relocation assistance\n\n401K\n\nMedical, Dental, and Vision\n\nGenerous PTO\n\nPaid Holidays\n\nIt is the policy of Lighthouse Lab Services to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
