Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention CoordinatorThe mission of BraveBe Child Advocacy Center is to respond to child abuse through a team approach designed to reduce trauma, seek justice, and provide hope and healing for children and their families.Summary of the Position: The Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention Coordinator facilitates and coordinates a comprehensive multidisciplinary team (MDT) response for youth who have been trafficked or are at risk of sexual or labor trafficking in Southeast Nebraska, while also providing direct intervention and support to high-risk youth to aid in BraveBe's prevention efforts. As a member of the T.R.A.C.E (Team Response to Anti-Trafficking and Child Exploitation) MDT, this role collaborates closely with law enforcement, DHHS, youth service providers, and medical and mental health professionals to ensure an effective, coordinated response to trafficking and exploitation cases. The Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention Coordinator builds rapport with high-risk youth, addressing immediate and ongoing needs, and connecting them to resources that promote safety, stability, and long-term well-being.Key ResponsibilitiesReview reports of suspected trafficking and exploitation received by the Nebraska Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline and law enforcement.Coordinate and facilitate regular Lancaster County Team Response for Anti-Trafficking and Child Exploitation (T.R.A.C.E) multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, share information, and develop comprehensive case recommendations for youth who have been trafficked or are at risk of trafficking.Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the community, including law enforcement, social services, and medical professionals, to ensure a coordinated response to trafficking, exploitation and high-risk youth cases, including medical care, mental health services, and advocacy.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the MDT response to trafficking and exploitation cases and make recommendations for improvements as needed.Maintain accurate and confidential records and statistics of all trafficking and exploitation case reviews and manage sensitive information with discretion.Closely monitor the Missing Youth site and work with family members and MDT on efforts to locate youth.Provide regular, ongoing trauma-informed advocacy and support to youth at risk of sexual abuse, exploitation, or trafficking, fostering a safe, non-judgmental environment.Assist the youth and non-offending caregiver(s) to maintain or rebuild safety and stability by providing referrals to trauma-focused evidence based mental health providers and other services such as protection orders, housing, public assistance, educational assistance, domestic violence intervention and transportation.Build trusting relationships with youth and non-offending caregivers; assess needs and connect youth and families to basic support such as food, shelter, safety, and transportationDevelop and implement effective coaching strategies to help youth overcome challenges by affirming their strengths, centering their interests, and providing agency and choice.Work with youth to increase self-efficacy and belief in personal future success, self-navigation abilities, increase awareness, access, and utilization of available services.Provide information on victims' rights, including crime victim compensation, and support youth and families through investigative and legal processes, including court preparation, court school and accompaniment.Offer ongoing education to youth and caregivers on abuse dynamics, exploitation and online risks, and the multidisciplinary response.Support youth in identifying and building protective capacities, including self-advocacy, healthy decision-making, and resilience in an effort to prevent victimization.Provide information and referrals to the general community who contact BraveBe with concerns of possible trafficking, abuse or neglect.Provide coverage and support to the Advocate team by assisting with day of case assignments, as needed.Update the case tracking system with documentation that is fact-based, clear, concise, and timely.Provide Outcome Measurement System (OMS) survey for youth aged 10-17 and their non-offending caregiver(s) for ongoing program evaluation.Update statistical data needed to ensure funders receive accurate data.Provide training and education to MDT members and the community on the identification, response, and prevention of child trafficking and exploitation.Develop and implement written interagency agreements and protocols on trafficking response for the 17 Southeast Nebraska counties served by BraveBe.Actively participate in community meetings focused on discussing and addressing the anti-trafficking and high-risk concerns of victims.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field.Experience: At least two years of experience working in the field of child welfare, human trafficking, or a related field. Knowledge of child welfare laws and regulations, as well as local resources and services for trafficking victims.Career DevelopmentBraveBe employees are provided with the opportunity to gain specialized training and grow their professional skills across various areas. The Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention Coordinator must show participation in ongoing education in child maltreatment and/or facilitation, at least 8 contact hours annually.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention Coordinator customarily and routinely exercises independent discretion and judgment in the performance of his or her duties. This role does not include supervision of direct reports but will supervise volunteers and interns as assigned.ClassificationThe Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention Coordinator is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The salary range for this position starts at $44,000 annually, depending on experience. Employees must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver's license and provide proof of insurance. The position may involve occasional travel throughout Southeast Nebraska. Employees must submit to a criminal history background check prior to being hired and bi-annually thereafter.The Anti-Trafficking & Exploitation Prevention Coordinator requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods while providing support to partners in both office and community settings. The role involves frequent sitting at desk to type and review documentation as well as frequent walking to attend meetings. Must have capacity to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, including informational materials and supplies.
