Mechanical Engineer (FLM)

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes related to metal casting and CNC machining. This role focuses on process optimization, production support, quality improvement, and collaboration with operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing.This is a First (1st) shift position at our Falcon Lakeside in StevensvillePrimary Responsibilities:Support and improve metal casting processesDevelop, document, and maintain process parameters, work instructions, and standard operating proceduresTroubleshoot production issues related to casting defects and machining variabilityProvide day-to-day engineering support for production operationsAnalyze cycle times, tooling performance, and equipment capability to improve throughputSupport capacity planning, line balancing, and workflow optimizationSupport and improve manufacturing automation systems, including robotic cells, CNC automation, etc.Assist with specification, installation, and validation of automated equipmentTroubleshoot automation-related production issues to minimize downtimeSupport continuous improvement initiatives involving automation and smart manufacturingCollaborate with maintenance, tooling, quality, and operators to resolve equipment and process issues.Investigate quality issues and perform root cause analysisImplement corrective and preventive actions to reduce scrap and reworkOther Responsibilities:Utilize Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologiesSupport FMEA, SPC, and control plan developmentSupport new product introductions and production launchesReview part designs for manufacturability (DFM/DFA) for casting and machiningAssist with tooling, fixture, and gauge designParticipate in process validation and first article inspectionsEnsure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standardsSupport ergonomic, safety, and risk-reduction initiatives on the production floorSuccessfully communicate and work with all employees across the organization (engineers, program managers, production, maintenance & quality), customers & suppliersPosition Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplineMinimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably with casting and CNC machining, prefer five (5) years experience.Experience in a production or plant-based environment preferredKnowledge of metal casting processes, metallurgy, and solidification principlesStrong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and fixturingExperience working with manufacturing automation in a production environmentFamiliarity with robotic systems and CNC automationBasic understanding of PLCs, sensors, and industrial controls (troubleshooting level)Experience supporting automation projects from concept through implementation is a plusAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&TFamiliarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)Experience with ERP/MRP systems a plusStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsHands-on, production-focused mindsetEffective communication and cross-functional collaborationAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentWork Environment:Collaborative, creative and fast-paced office.Travel to customer sites as needed.Cultivate an employee culture that welcomes you like familyManufacturing and foundry environments with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial equipmentMay require on-floor support during production trials or issue resolutionAbility to lift 30 pounds repeatedly and to be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.Who We Are:ArtiFlex Manufacturing designs and builds products and solutions for companies with tough challenges by employing people with a willingness and ability to be “Innovative.
