Chief Operating Officer
Summary: Serves as a senior executive reporting to the President & CEO with management responsibilities over multiple areas, including, but not limited to, overall smooth operations of the organization and its six facilities, strategic planning, support the senior leadership team, project management, facilities, IT, legal affairs/contracts, food service and maintenance. The person in this role develops strategies and internal process controls to ensure the proper management and oversight of expenditures, mitigate risk, and promote the efficient use of resources, timely project completion and quality product delivery that exceeds donor and board expectations.Responsibilities:20% LeadershipStrategic planningDay-to-day oversight of operationsLegal affairs and contractsLarge project management and growth initiativesSignificant collaboration with Finance and Administration departments and staffDirect administrative oversight of NOVA facility/programSupport the senior leadership team, as neededServe as a backup to the CEO60% OperationsInspections and regulatory mattersManagement and maintenance of IT, phones, copiers, Mission Tracker and other systemsEnsure the fleet of vehicles is maintained, inspected, registered, etc.Safety, security and fire systems and proceduresRisk managementIdentification and prioritization of capital improvements, in partnership with the VP of Finance and AdministrationRegular evaluation of the value provided and cost of service providersReview for accuracy and approval of relevant invoicesEnsure vendors provide adequate services to all Mission locationsEnsure mail is picked up and dropped off at post office (task performed by others)Oversee day-to-day administrative functions20% Facilities and Food ServiceSupervise Maintenance Director and Operations ManagerEnsure all facilities are clean, in good working order and preventive maintenance plans are developed and executedEnsure repairs are tracked and completedExecutive detailed oversight of MEP contractors, ensuring work orders are tracked, completed and invoices are reviewed and paidEnsure repairs are planned and implemented with minimal disruption to operations.Ensure kitchen operations are professional, safe and efficient; oversee Food Service ManagerOther duties, as assignedRequirements:Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management or related disciplineMinimum of ten years in an operations leadership roleSenior nonprofit leadership experienceExcellent attention to detailExcellent strategic planning skillsExcellent staff management skillsAbility to multi-taskThorough understanding of all subject matter areas detailed in this job descriptionExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong Microsoft Suite skillsAgreement with and commitment to Central Union Mission’s mission and Statement of Faith required.
