The Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, performance, and security of network hardware, operating systems, and communication infrastructure. This role requires strong technical expertise in network engineering, systems administration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure modernization within complex enterprise environments.\n\nJob Location:\n\nThis position is remote and requires that the job be performed in the United States. Please note that project meetings may occasionally begin before 10:00 AM Eastern to accommodate client requirements.\n\nLimited travel may be required for customer meetings, infrastructure deployments, or team collaboration.\n\nWhat You Will Do:\n\nThe selected candidate will support the administration, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise network infrastructure while ensuring high availability and operational performance. The Systems Engineer will perform systems engineering activities across network hardware, operating systems, and communication technologies while providing technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and assisting with infrastructure modernization initiatives. This individual will work closely with network engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and project leadership to maintain secure and reliable IT operations.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nSupervise, coordinate, and perform additions, upgrades, and changes to enterprise network hardware, operating systems, and connected devices.\n\nInvestigate, analyze, recommend, configure, install, and test new network hardware, software, and infrastructure components.\n\nProvide day-to-day operational support for enterprise network infrastructure and operating systems.\n\nMonitor system utilization, network performance, and response times to ensure optimal system availability.\n\nDiagnose and resolve complex network, communications, and infrastructure issues.\n\nTroubleshoot network connectivity at both the physical and logical layers using network measurement tools and diagnostic software.\n\nPerform hardware testing, configuration validation, and communication protocol analysis.\n\nParticipate in the planning, design, technical review, implementation, and deployment of new network infrastructure and operating systems.\n\nSupport voice and data communication networks, ensuring reliable and secure network services.\n\nMaintain network infrastructure standards, configurations, and documentation.\n\nConfigure, monitor, and support TCP/IP networking and other enterprise communication protocols.\n\nCollaborate with cybersecurity, systems administration, and engineering teams to ensure secure network operations.\n\nProvide technical consultation, mentoring, training, and operational support to IT staff as directed.\n\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and system configurations.\n\nSupport infrastructure modernization, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n\n8+ years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure and systems engineering.\n\nUS citizenship is required by government agency.\n\nCandidate must be able to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance.\n\nCandidate must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and all work must be performed in the U.S.\n\nWhat We Would Like You to Bring with You:\n\nExperience configuring, administering, and troubleshooting network hardware and operating systems.\n\nExperience supporting enterprise voice and data communication networks.\n\nStrong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and network communication protocols.\n\nExperience diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure and communication issues.\n\nExperience supporting infrastructure implementation, upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives.\n\nHands-on experience with:\n\nEnterprise network infrastructure design and administration\n\nTCP/IP networking and communication protocols\n\nRouting and switching technologies\n\nWindows Server and Linux operating systems\n\nNetwork monitoring and performance management tools\n\nNetwork diagnostic and troubleshooting tools\n\nDNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall technologies\n\nVirtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)\n\nCloud networking (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform)\n\nInfrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar)\n\nNetwork security best practices and system hardening\n\nExperience supporting Federal Government IT infrastructure is preferred.\n\nIndustry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft, VMware, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.\n\nExperience supporting highly available, mission-critical enterprise environments.\n\nFamiliarity with ITIL processes and infrastructure lifecycle management.\n\nExperience participating in disaster recovery, business continuity, and infrastructure resilience planning.\n\nProfessional Skills:\n\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\n\nStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.\n\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and support critical operational environments.\n\nDemonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams.\n\nCommitment to delivering reliable, secure, and high-performing enterprise infrastructure.\n\nExperience supporting remote or hybrid operational teams is preferred.\n\nBot and Third-Party Applications\n\nPlease note that this application must be submitted directly by the applicant for consideration.
