BIO also produces the BIO International Convention, the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, along with industry-leading investors and partnering meetings held around the world.The Director, Industry Partnerships is a senior revenue leader responsible for driving the execution and performance of sponsorship and advertising sales across BIO’s event portfolio and year-round engagement opportunities.Working in close partnership with the Vice President and Senior Director, this role translates revenue strategy into actionable sales plans, leading high-value sponsorship accounts, developing integrated partnership opportunities, and ensuring consistent achievement of revenue targets.This position plays a critical leadership role in advancing BIO’s event portfolio, with a focus on revenue delivery, account growth, and client experience, while contributing insights that inform strategy. The ideal candidate is a strategic seller and relationship-builder who can close complex deals, translate data into opportunity, and lead teams with clarity and discipline.Essential ResponsibilitiesRevenue and Account StrategyOwn and deliver sponsorship and advertising revenue targets across assigned events and industry programs, including the BIO International ConventionCollaborate with the Sr. Director to prepare sales forecasts, manage revenue reports, and prepare and track budgetary objectivesBuild new corporate relationships and strengthen existing partnerships to meet and exceed event revenue goalsServe as the primary contact for key accounts, engaging senior stake holders and driving long-term valueIdentify and pursue new revenue opportunities across biotech and pharma, service providers, financial institutions, and non-endemic sponsorsOversee sponsorship fulfillment, invoicing, revenue collection, and accurate tracking of all related activitiesPartner with internal teams to develop sponsorship strategies, execute plans, and ensure delivery of sponsor benefitsLeverage data and analytics to support sales efforts, identify gaps, and uncover new opportunitiesDevelop and maintain tools and processes that support sponsorship activities, including contracts, sponsor kits, sales materials, and ROI reportingMaintain a strong awareness of BIO’s broader initiatives and membership offerings to deploy integrated sales approachesStaff Management and OperationsLead, mentor, and develop dedicated staff, ensuring strong performance, accountability, and professional growthEstablish and manage processes that improve sponsorship tracking and prospecting, ensuring adherence to department standards and best practicesOversee sponsorship fulfillment, contracting, invoicing, and revenue trackingMaintain CRM integrity and reporting accuracyExecute a year-round event sales strategy and timeline in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Programs, and Operations teamsOther duties as assigned Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience8+ years of related work experienceProven exhibit and sponsorship sales experience and the ability to drive the sales process from start to finishAssociation and large convention/tradeshow experience and familiarity with Exhibit Management Software a plusFamiliarity with the biotechnology industry, the financial industry or investor relations in the health care space preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)Outstanding account management and customer service skillsExcellent communication skills; ability to convey ideas, instruction, and service to a wide variety of customersStrong project management skills; ability to prioritize competing and multiple projectsAbility to build trust and collaborative working relationships; work cross-functionally with different departments and with colleagues at every levelCRM experience and familiarity with Salesforces is a plusProficient in Microsoft Suite; knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications a strong plusAbility to quickly learn new software platformsAbility to work well independently and as part of a team, and ability to create and modify processes for team efficienciesPhysical RequirementsSitting/Standing: Remaining in a stationary position for extended periodsUsing Hands/Fingers: Operating a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipmentVision: Close vision for computer work and detailed tasksFine Motor Skills: Using a mouse, keyboard, and other small office toolsTravel Requirements and Work EnvironmentRequired travel: Up to 25%Hybrid (Monday and Friday virtual, Tues-Thursday in office required)This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and responsibilities can be expected to evolve over time to meet changing business needs.
