The Junior Database and Automation Engineer will transform raw data into clear, actionable insights and automate business workflows across our organization. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and design sensibility to build visually compelling dashboards and efficient automation solutions that support decision-making and operational efficiency.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for stakeholders across various departments.\nCreate automated workflows using Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow) to streamline repetitive tasks and integrate systems.\nCollect, clean, model, and analyze data from multiple sources (SQL, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, etc.).\nCollaborate with business and technical teams to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective solutions.\nOptimize data models and performance of reports and workflows for scalability and speed.\nApply UX/UI design principles to ensure dashboards are intuitive, visually appealing, and easy to interpret.\nMonitor and maintain existing Power BI and Power Automate solutions, troubleshooting and enhancing as needed.\nTrain and support end users on best practices for interacting with dashboards and automation tools.\nImprove existing reporting and analytics by gathering user feedback to re-design, improve, merge, or add new content into existing BI reports.\nMaintain and support existing Power Apps applications (CPM, ORA).\nDeliver routine feature requests and bug fixes from the backlog.\nSupport DHS ICE Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) tasks and technical documentation.\nAssist with testing and deployment.\nHandle ad hoc client requests for existing systems.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nRequired Experience/Skills:\n3+ years of experience with Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and dashboard development.\n3+ years of hands-on experience with Power Automate for workflow automation and integration.\nStrong understanding of data visualization best practices and design thinking.\nProficiency with data querying languages (e.g., SQL, M, DAX).\nExceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.\nAbility to work in a team-oriented environment for a matrixed organization.\nExperience with Agile and SCRUM processes and methodologies.\nFamiliarity with Government Processes, including Federal Acquisition & Finance\nKnowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) practices, principles, and techniques as they apply to Agile development process.\nAbility to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers.\nProven ability to communicate technical details to a non-technical audience.\nDesired Skills:\nBachelor’s degree or relevant experience.\nKnowledge of SQL Databases and Query creation.\nKnowledge of the Federal Acquisition Lifecycle or commercial contracting.\nKnowledge of Federal financial systems or commercial accounting.\nAbility to develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions.\nExperience with Federal government contracting and/or program office organizations business processes.\nExperience with RPA and AI/ML technologies.\nDesired Certification(s):\nCertifications that show the desire for learning and continued education (e.g., IBM or Tableau certifications).\nRequired Education:\nBachelor’s Degree in Business or an IT related field, which can be substituted for technical certifications or relevant experience.\n\nSalary and Benefit Information:\nThe likely salary range for this position is $78,000- $100,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
